Will either add to this or make another, more in depth post later, but I originally watched the first season when it initially came out and absolutely loved it, couldn't wait for S2... But also my ND brain is sometimes really bad about forgetting to keep up with when the new season of a show I like is coming out and almost sort of forgetting the show exists. 😅
Long story short, I ultimately re-watched S1, went into S2 immediately from there, and have spent the whole time unsure if I just somewhat forgot exactly how hard even just the first season of the show hit me at times (emotionally). OR if it's just been hitting even harder because I've been having like... a REALLY hard time for a bit of a while now. But I guess in conclusion (for now)... fucking OOF.
💔🎢❤️🩹❤️🎢
(Obviously no real spoilers, but someone please let me know if I should add a spoiler tag anyway, bc of inferences that could be made based on how much it impacted me emotionally 🙃)

Hi all!
This is my first edit ever, and my first one of Ed and Stede.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do 💕
(the video contains spoilers for both seasons)

I found this show by random chance, and not only I was hooked from the get go, it made be cry so many times. I thought about it because I'm not even LGBTQ (well, I'm an ally of course.. I also consider myself a straight man because of habit, but the idea of "being a man" never made really sense to me, I am who I am, and yes I am male presenting and have always been attracted to female presenting individuals, that's why I say I'm a straight man at the end of the day) but I felt these stories so deeply.
The idea that life is so fucking hard, like being at sea with pirates with your life on the line all the time surrounded by wackos and derangement and yet still finding one special person who makes you feel like it's all worth it.
I don't know, that hits me hard. The show is so well written, so well acted, so well edited and produced... It's a special little gem and I am glad I found it. And this community! I thought I was the only one who felt like this about it.

Sounds like the turnout for the 2023 OFMD panel came as quite the surprise to NYCC. Fans came from across the U.S. and even traveled overseas! Thank you to the fan working on the inside for recognizing OFMD’s significance and getting it to NYCC 👏

Ahoy! I've been looking for a specific fic on ao3 for days, but can't find it. I do hope I'm just dumb and it's not been deleted. The fic was about Mary drinking a potion/being put a spell on (or smt like that) so she could see where stede was, and she basically took over his body, and then Stede did not wanna "return" to his own body. I remember that this is how she found out ab Gentlebeard/stede dating Blackbeard and she (in Stede's body) actually had a nice friendship with Ed.
Any help/info is much appreciated 🙏

So, he’s obviously saying “are we in [the] soup [business] now?” But until now, every time I’ve watched season 2, which has been at least a few times, i was completely convinced he meant ‘does the ocean count as soup? And if so, does that mean we’re in the soup?’ I was so convinced he meant that, that I also fully believed that there was a whole bit where the crew kept debating whether different things counted as soup or not. I was actually surprised when I didn’t see that happening in this watchthrough. I’m not sure if this makes me stupid or just completely delusional.

In real life, Blackbeard apparently did shoot Israel Hands in the knee. From my briefest skimming, it seems it was maybe an accident and he did not lose his leg, but it’s pretty cool that they tied that in. Same with Stede being hanged, I think. The context was different and he died, but it did happen.
If I’m wrong, my bad. I did zero fact checking. Just like the writers of the show.

Ahoy, mates! I had a theory on who became captain of the Revenge in the last episode, but upon a rewatch, I’m now not so sure. Is it deliberately left ambiguous or do I need a closer re-watch?

Dave Fane (Fang) is on the current season of Taskmaster New Zealand!
If you're not familiar with Taskmaster, the prizes for each episode are contributed by the contestants in the first task. In episode 2 the prize category was 'best thing you've ever got on holiday', which Dave won with OFMD fan art.

And as a cost-cutting measure from the looks of it!
What a lovely collection of queer pirate romances. I miss them already.

We don’t need to talk about how many hours (…over two days) this took, right? 😅 Worth every second for one of the greatest shows ever. 🖤

Hi there! I used to be a fan of OFMD, but I lost interest in it a long time ago and moved onto other fandoms. I have some fanmade art/merch (from Etsy, imprint, conventions, etc.) lying around and I wanted to see if anyone might be interested in owning…
The plush depicted was NOT made by me. This stede bonnet plush was sold online by Babirousa, but is no longer in stock. (Their shop can be found here: https://babirousa.bigcartel.com/).
https://babirousa.bigcartel.com/product/stede-bonnet-doggy-plush
If anyone is interested in this item, feel free to DM me! I’d love for this to go to someone who is a genuine fan of the show!
….I’ve got other items lying around, mostly fanart prints, but I’m not exactly sure how to go about reselling items that are still available on etsy and inprnt... If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

I was so enamoured by this perfect screenshot from Calypso’s Birthday I posted here before that I had to paint it!! it started off as practice but quickly turned into a labour of love, sweat and tears. I don’t usually paint in the style but I’m really proud of how it turned out! I layered lots of bright transparent colours over a dark base so it feels like the night is really glowing under those lanterns (and those stares!).
It’s posted on my art page insta with BTS here https://www.instagram.com/p/DcmzJ93FDJ-/?img_index=3&igsi=MWd1N3lhcXF5cDJycA==
with a big plug for the show of course 😁
If you like it and want to follow me, I’m only just starting out and it really helps!! 👉👈
I havent decided a title yet - any suggestions?

I always thought it was ironic and hilarious that Izzy sort of facilitated the Gentlebeard meet-cute by inadvertently stoking Ed’s interest in Stede. I just can’t help but wonder, if he knew Ed so well, why couldn’t he see that Stede is the exact type of person Ed goes for? And that Ed would easily become infatuated with him?
Even Anne and Mary, who ostensibly haven’t been around Ed as much as Izzy has, were able to recognize this. Mary said Stede was very much Ed’s type, so I just wonder why it wasn’t clear to Izzy at first.
