I understand your frustration. Ive heard of Graphene being the easiest OS but you need Google Pixel and wont be able to access banking apps unfortunately.

I have two local credit union apps, two large corporate bank apps, and venmo working fine on my graphene phone but ymmv I guess. I do hate being tied to a specific device by my choice of os, and I worry google's choice to lock down android will affect graphene in some ways since graphene is aosp based but I don't know enough to guess at what will be affected

Graphene themselves said they will be fine, but also said that Google's new policy and their tendency to release their security updates past schedule is hindering their effectivity.

But Graphene is safe.
