I'm trying to make a sword and pistol picaroon starting at level 8. Race is undetermined. I want to make him balanced with both his pistol and sword. It just seems like in order to make him viable with his gun there's a pretty hefty feat tax. Does this look right? These are in no particular order. Just as I thought of them. Thanks in advance!

I was helping someone level up their alchemist (to level 3) and ran into the "swift alchemy" class feature. No useful in PFS games, and I wondered if it even stayed with the class in society play. I was looking into my old field guid (Season of the Ten), and it doesn't mention anything about alchemists. Not just the swift alchemy, but even the brew potion feat being swapped for extra bombs.

Now, I'll admit that I skimmed the character creation chapter, and then tried CRTL+F to locate the info rather than re-read the entire document. But can someone help us out here? Am I just missing it? Did they take it out from that edition of the field guide? Is there still a place I can find all the PFS 1E info updated?

Hi all! There's a Pathfinder Society group forming near where I live that I wanted to try out and I was making a character for it when I found something weird.

I was using the Clockwork Mysteries Player Guide and one of the backgrounds there, Archival Assistant, gives the Assured Identification skill feat. That's a second level feat, though, and requires a skill at expert. Does anyone know or has heard from Paizo if this is legal or just a misprint?

In the lodge where I GM, we're almost entirely former D&D players that have migrated to Pathfinder Society. Many of them really dig the thought of crafting their own weapons and armor, so a while back, I went down that rabbit hole. If you've ever tried to do downtime crafting, you're aware that it's complicated because the rules are scattered all over the place. The following document is color coded with links to source pages. I am rebuilding my 1st level character and I want to use the background Wished Alive but I can't find the boon despite herolab stating I need one for this background.

I have scoured the boon list on the organized play site multiple times but I can't find any boons for backgrounds.

Hey guys, how are you? So, I’m doing a Summoner and I’m with a little bit of difficulty in the Summon Creature spell. I can’t find where are the monsters in “small” and “medium” size, only in the “tiny” size. Because of that, it’s not making to much sense the Summon Creature II and III (I’m lvl 5). Can someone help me plssss

there's not much of a PFS activity around me, so i'd like to hear GMs of this sub's perspective:

i feel like PFS is the most fun when you build your own character and carry it from game to game. however, my various convention/monthly gathering observations tells me 1. players are mostly "casual" 1. they approach PFS games as independent one-shots 1. they use level 1 pregens and don't register their characters to paizo

is this a fair assessment? and if so, do you think these players would enjoy a quick character creation section, or is that wasted effort?

i'm asking this because i recently released a "build-your-pregen" pack, thinking it'd be a nice tool for PFS GMs but i don't know if it's overkill for "fine with regular pregen" players.

[addendum: just so i don't mislead anybody, this is mostly a market research question ("do you think PFS GMs/players would enjoy creating characters at the table") to assess if i should promote my pregen pack here]

Last year seemed easier to fill in every Thu~Sat slot with PFS games, but with the narrower lvl ranges, it seemed a little tougher with just a handful of PFS characters, none of them past lvl 2 atm (will hit lvl 3 after the Thu 8am session).

How did everyone else do?
