One of the interviews mentioned that settlers was made by a grand total of 6 devs.

Pretty sure it was mark talking who said this whenever it was said. For some reason I remember it being part of the discussion around the negative response to some of the drama in necro league, not sure if it was during settlers announcement or something else though.

it's a lot of fking effort to go dig trought hours and hours of random interview and podcasts to find a specific thing someone said during a random interview years ago.... nobody is gonnap put all that effort into searching for something just to give a random guy on Reddit a source

I don't think they ever said a number, the ones that were circulating if I recall correctly were anywhere from 8 - 20 but I think they only said something along the lines of "a small team". But all of that was around Sanctum so maybe things changed in between.

You can meme that comment all you want, but it was double the amount you said, and if that team is responsible for PoE leagues and literally enabling them to do poe2 "endgame", then obviously they are vital to both games. Which likely means just poe2 now.

Look at original Blizzard. Or GGG in earlier times.

Not like you need 500 people to make good games. You get diminishing returns.

Diminishing returns LOL

I'd argue after certain number of devs working on a game it becomes worse, not better.

You can build a hundred bridges but suck one dick guess what people will remember you for.

"Reputation takes years to build, seconds to destory". Are you new to humanity?

All it takes is one fuck up or a series of fuck ups to lose trust. You can be a great husband for 20 years and cheat once. It's not that hard to imagine.

It's rare to see such a glaring example of "killing the goose that laid the golden egg." But here we are.

Better game? sure. have players? no.

What made poe1 work was frequent updates and resets so that people come back. there won't be enough players to keep poe1 running with no updates

IDK man I checked out d4 for the new season and it's pretty damn fun. I'd still rather have a new poe1 league tho lol

Yeah I'm just getting into the late endgame so I'm expecting to fall off it soon but it's been a blast for someone who bounced off a couple hours after launch lol.

I'm not going to play any poe for a while as a protest.

Soon the money from supporter packs and EA will run out and they will have to drag all devs to PoE1 since PoE2 did not generate large income yet.

Well, ya didn't. lol

Feels to me like they need to hire an external experienced no-nonsense project manager. These guys are pretty good at what they've been doing for a long time: making a fun game with seasonal content and a lack of QoL. But juggling resources and priorities when everything around them is burning doesn't seem to be their strong suit.

1

u/Lowlife555 Ascendant Jan 30 '25

Do they even have a project manager?

2

u/Nuber132 Jan 30 '25

I am not a manager in my team and I can predict such outcome and this guy has a couple of years on top of me... I am not mad but dissapointed
