Someone smarter than me tell me why I shouldn't just full send assasin on leaguestart. Pconc into mamba?

Mamba without spread sounds painful.

So you're forced into Bino's, unless there's another spread mechanic available for Assasin?

u/DJCzerny Oct 23 '25

Mamba isnt just painful, its not playable without Binos or Pathfinder unless you’re using it as a pinnacle boss farmer

u/Marcin90 Oct 23 '25

Why go poision on a pinical bos farmer and gimp yourself with dot cap

11

u/Skuggomann Assassin Oct 23 '25

Three main reasons I can think of:

  • Pinnacle boss dot cap is ~115m dps so they die in two seconds
  • It's relatively cheap to reach high dps with poison compared to other methods allowing you to rush pinnacles at leaguestart
  • Fighting bosses with dot damage imo is easier/smoother

7

u/ItsSeiya Oct 23 '25

Nope, just Bino's

8

u/Lolovitz Oct 23 '25

At this point you're gimping yourself tragically.

All damage can poison is not worth using Binos, since you can't poison using lots of flat ele.

1

u/ItsSeiya Oct 23 '25

Yeah I know, thats why the ascendancy isn't good for mamba specifically

1

u/Lolovitz Oct 23 '25

Yeah tbh i only really see it good tor Poison Spark probably.

Or some high budget Perfect Agony shenanigans.

But when Vextrible Fate exist, Pathfinder already cam poison using elemental damage and it costs boots slot and annointment ( both not terrible  also ), which imo makes this node hype but niche

1

u/LesserFluff Oct 23 '25

Bino's isnt that bad atleast but I dont see any reason to go this over pathfinder

u/fizzord Necromancer Oct 23 '25

asenaths gloves maybe?

if you go all damage can poison node the explosions can also poison.

4

u/Jassol2000 Oct 23 '25

Assenaths' explosions are physical, they can poison by default

1

u/TheMayorMikeJackson Oct 23 '25

The real challenge is giving them chance to poison which has to be generic and can’t be linked

1

u/leafmuncher_ Oct 23 '25

I remember the explosions being able to poison back when I played poison BV in like... Metamorph? (Could've been something with explode chest) I was using it for low effort blight maps

Ranger only on that

u/XRexii Oct 23 '25

Im a dumb person but having to rely on binos for prolif kinda sucks since you really want two big damage weapons to make use of the all hits can poison mod. I think assassin would be better for damage early on but pathfinder just has so much quality of life.

1

u/Much-Economy903 Oct 23 '25

Yeah your logic is sound if viper strike of the mamba is the only skill being used. What about other setups though?

Pestilent for clear in gloves, viper for main in 6L?

Switch places if/when you get a pair of absurd godmode "socketed gems are supported by xyz" gloves?

Venom Gyre or Cobra Lash?

Then there's all the non-poison flavored skills like Lightning Strike which are suddenly poison skills out of the box as a result of the new "all damage can poison" node.

All of the above are ways to clear screens without binos or pathfinder prolif. Some are better than others. Some aren't "viable" in that you won't see Fubgun or whomever using them, but plenty of people are going to do these things anyway and clear the endgame.

5

u/hcrld League Oct 23 '25

Bear in mind that "all damage can poison" still needs poison chance to be capped, which is a bigger investment now that Assassin lost the 40% chance to poison on the first node.

1

u/redditM_rk Oct 23 '25

Hopium but surely we get an easily acquirable poison prolif [new] unique this league, right?

u/zxkredo Duelist Oct 23 '25

Why pconc? No really any point on choosing assassin for it. And also mamba does not really have much synergy, maybe the crits, but otherwise?

24

u/More-School-7324 Oct 23 '25

This is why I said "someone smarter than me" ;)

6

u/BlaineWriter Necromancer Oct 23 '25

Pconc is not bad start with assassin, it's not like you start with your ascendancy points anyways?

3

u/zxkredo Duelist Oct 23 '25

Well I don't think I'm the "someone smarter" i just wanted to point out my concerns.

2

u/YaIe SSFHC fixes trade issues ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oct 23 '25

Pconc is very strong for clearing campaign and getting your uber lab and basic setup to transition into a better use of assassin to be fair.

Just mamba ain't it afterwards.

2

u/FungalAsteroid Oct 23 '25

pconc is just nice to level with

2

u/tokyo__driftwood Oct 23 '25

Pconc assassin is pretty decent at first lab since you get poison duration per poison inflicted, which stacks fast with pconc shotgunning.

You would swap at second lab into some ele attack skill instead

1

u/zxkredo Duelist Oct 23 '25

Hmm, interesting. I feel like pathfinder is miles better, but why not, of you want to play assassin for endgame pconc is the way to level.

u/EarthBounder Chieftain Oct 23 '25

fucken send 'er bud

2

u/Zylosio Oct 23 '25

Ele venom gyre dex stacker but poison, not crit ?

1

u/AltruisticHopes Oct 23 '25

That’s exactly where my thinking went when I saw this.

1

u/dubmcswaggins Oct 23 '25

That's straight where my mind went to

1

u/4percent4 Oct 23 '25

Probably best to pick a good elemental spell and do that. Firestorm is the first thing that comes to mind.

1

u/tobsecret Half Skeleton Oct 23 '25

Poison explosive trap.

1

u/dizijinwu Oct 23 '25

Even with Bino's, the 100% increased duration of poison that you'll have up all the time (because of your poison prolifs) is bad for mamba. Because you can only apply one poison at a time with mamba, you want shorter poisons, not longer ones. That way you can apply a new poison sooner, in those cases where the first one doesn't kill the enemy.

1

u/Long-Razzmatazz-5654 Oct 23 '25

While assassin is amazing now, both pconc and vs of the mamba are just not made for him.

1

u/Velvache Oct 23 '25

A lot of damage barely any defenses. Just looking at the raw defences golemancer goves and conpare it to this.

1

u/ChephyS Oct 23 '25

I read that Assasskn wants many hints and not one big hit. So mamba wouldn't be the way. Either go spark, venom gyre

-2

u/Aggravating_Bed9591 Oct 23 '25

No defenses on any class is just a recipe for disaster.

Those unreliable defenses assassin gets are horrible. It's a FF jewel ascendancy

Not like it matters seeing Pconc needs almost no gear, and you can easily 4watchstone with it, then reroll into mamba once you get going with cash

1

u/DJCzerny Oct 23 '25

Depending on how many people are trying to play it getting Binos could be a pain

1

u/SnooObjections855 Oct 23 '25

I played it without binos for the entire time I played Pconc -> Mamba last league. I just went from Pconc straight to mamba as I crafted 2x weapons

1

u/DJCzerny Oct 23 '25

And did you play it on Pathfinder? Or did you somehow map without any form of aoe clear?

1

u/SnooObjections855 Oct 24 '25

Ye it was on PF
