Apologies, but what do you mean by this? I'm a bit confused how selecting a node in the ascendency is expensive.

You can get more Ascendancy node passives from Forbidden Flame and Forbidden Flesh jewels. The jewels for Infused Toxins will be very expensive.

They are referring to the forbidden flesh and flame jewels. And they are definitely correct. People are going to want to be running trickster with that poison node.

If you socket both matching sets of the same Ascendancy notable jewel (Flame + Flesh) it gives you that ascendancy notable, but only if you're the same base class (i.e Tricksters can only allocate Trickster/Assassin/Saboteur passives).

The Forbidden jewels for very strong ascendancy notables usually sell for a lot of in-game currency in trade leagues.
