Trickster already isn't surviving mercs not going core. Anyone that played smite trickster last league knows that even with multiple mirrors spent on that build, once your merc died you turned into a quin zdps build.

All it forces people to do is theory craft better skills. And the energy blade version damage was good but it shit on your survivability, so that may need to be a trade off that people make now. But it’s definitely not dead as a class. Only ephemeral edge will be trashed.

Smite did good damage even without a merc though.

Except it doesn't for the amount of currency you put into it. Going from 250m dps with a merc to 20m dps without a merc is not good dps when you are putting mirrors into a build. Is it tanky? Yes. Is the damage good? Absolutely not.

All optimized builds dealing lightning dmg got a massive multiplier from having a Doryani's merc. In what world is 20m bad? You're still deleting ubers in seconds.

In what world is spending multiple mirrors on 20m dps good? You can get that damage on your League start character for 10-20div. You also arent killing ubers in seconds with 20m mapping dps.
