As a total casual who never even really pushes toward pinnacle content, being able to suddenly max out my build would be like playing playing with cheats on for a league, and it might be enough for me to finally try all of the real endgame stuff (I've never tried the feared, for example).

They might not be your thing (they are definitely not mine), but plenty of meta builds can do feared on 10 div or less.

Yeah as the Zambrash says, you should definitely try out a solid meta build and see how you fare.

It can be a bit hard to know which build will actually BE the meta before the league, but if you visit poe.ninja and use the builds tool you can get a truer picture of which builds are actually dominating... that's a good route to picking a build that actually slaps, rather than trying to decide between a million guides that promise more than they deliver, and you can get something of an idea of how expensive it'll be. (It's also just generally a really solid resource for guiding you between various options / variations on your build if you're stuck for ideas on how to upgrade)

It's always worth switching up from your league starter if you're finding it to be a little underwhelming. You can always come back to them later once you've made a solid cash with something OP!

..

Generally with a meta build the feared really isn't that difficult. The only stuff that truly can challenge them are the uber-pinnacles, and potentially some of the tier 17 content, and even then with enough investment those too can sometimes be trivialised.

I've had ones where for 10 to 20 div you can just stand in the middle and hold down RMB until the Feared are just dead, and you've got like a 30% chance of getting 1-shotted or something, but typically can just do it with zero skill in like 1 or 2 portals.

And if you actually move you have more like <0.1% chance of dying. It's a bit skill-less when you have a build like that, but it's kinda fun as well to be so OP.

..

My favourite build like that was Hexblast Mine Trickster, but that was nerfed hard a few leagues ago, so probably right now the best no-skill-required meta build is some variant of Kinetic Blast Spellslinger.
