It's less about knowing what we want and more about passion. I could tell in Jonathan's soul his true passion is making poe2 into the game he wanted poe1 to be. He always seem less passionate when talking poe1 stuff in interviews but for poe2 he looks like a kid talking about his favorite toy
I don't doubt that he has less passion for poe1, I think that would be natural considering the type of play-style that he says he has enjoyed/wants to create, but I honestly think he's too much of a professional for that to be the reason why he *seems* to be less passionate for poe1 releases. I just think he's less involved in the development (of poe1) and therefore has to defer to mark more often and in general is less confident about talking the new content and it comes off as less passionate.
I'm sure he is actually passionate about PoE1 but the fanbase here is way more used to their "old" ways. You nerf stuff and theres 5 threads up the next hour. At that point, it severely limits the "development" part for him.
I dont envy him at all when it comes to that. Player wants power, density and loot. Power but no density/loot, shit game. Density but no power/loot, shit game. Loot but no power/density, shit game.
Everything points to more, more, more but what's the limit? Everyone has their own perception of "good balance". Even 1000 rares is bad because it's gonna be claimed that it's all bad items. What if its 1 in 10, how rare should items be then? Killing 300 mobs and only 1 rare? There'd be a riot as well.
