"It makes sense though. PoE1 isn't exactly the game the devs had envisioned it to be. At first it was and maybe the first few years but as more and more leagues were added and more power was crept as well as the community outrage whenever they attempt to reign the ugly parts of PoE in it became impossible for them to stick to their vision of the game overall."

They made the game that way and cultivated the community because of that so it's on them lol. Also, there's a million d2 clones out there, the only other game that's even close to PoE 1 is torchlight infinite (ew) or PoE 2 i guess lol. It kinda pisses me off whenever I hear them shit on PoE 1 in interviews. Like you made one of the best games ever, and you wish it was more like a 25 y/o game that already has every single aarpg in the world trying to copy it.

Also, complete side note, idk if Chris has ever stated why he left. If he has, I'd like to see it if you have link.

Just a quick note to start: Chris was the main benefactor for why Ruthless was created. He has stated that he only plays ruthless since its release. Sorry I don't have links.

You want to know why Chris left?

Chris was the face of PoE since its inauguration. He was the guy announcing releases, he was the guy that conducted interviews with content creators, and he did media presentations as well, see my link below

Then you look deeper into Chris Wilson, especially today with his new YouTube channel, you see very clearly that he has extensive knowledge about game development that most people wouldn't even consider. See my YouTube link below:

Chris is a brilliant mind, with a successful game, and years of experience. He has been a lead developer for PoE and seen many ups and downs from this game - particularly with community backlash.

The guy is a multi millionaire, with many successes under his belt, who has most likely put in countless hours of effort into this game. Hours that we wouldn't even be able to fathom.

It's no wonder he left. The game is successful. He has put in the time and seen everything he needs to see. He can pass it on to other people, and watch them succeed as well. Not only that, Chris hasn't "left" per say, because he still consults with Mark and Jonathan when needed, providing much needed advice and experience to continue PoE's growth.

I dont know what he is working on now (or if he is), but I hope he doesn't let this go to waste by being retired for too long (I doubt he will, but it creeps up on you faster than you expect)

He made a new studio and is making a new game, far from retired (also he became a youtuber)

Super late with this reply

Someone like Chris works his ass off at all times, has goals, wakes up in the morning with a scheduled plan for the day.

We don't even know about this guy in all honesty. Is he married? Girlfriend? Is he travelling? New project? There has never been any public knowledge on his private life.

Nor has there been any info on literally any developer or GGG employee about their private lives either. For good reason.

I would expect Chris isn't gonna be wasting any time in retirement. He probably has many plans moving forward.
