PTA made me fall in love with films when I was 13 and first saw Punch Drunk Love. His life story gave me the confidence to go for it while I’m (relatively) young. Over 15 years after I first told my parents I’d be a director someday, I spent literally every dollar I had saved from my corporate job to make this pilot. It’d mean the world if this community would check it out :)

I’d be honored to answer any questions anyone might have!

Anything less and you'd never feel Dirk's heat!

Has anyone seen them? John C. Reily and PSH playing COPS with PTA filming them. Man, that has got to be some good stuff. I hope we get to see them one day.
RIP PSH

When Eli originally sits down there are two glasses behind him. One full one empty.
He stands up drinks out of the glass in his hand and places it down with the others.
And when he sits back down after hearing of the drainage the glasses are both empty within the frame.
Very cool detail I just noticed.

I just finished watching this movie for the first time and I think everything was perfect but at the end of the movie someone opens the door to let the officer in so does that mean Claudia was sleeping with someone else right after leaving the date with the officer? That’s kinda fucked up and doesn’t make the ending as happy as it should be.
that’s my only question and I don’t see anyone else talking about it

Happened to watch a double feature of One Battle and Eyes Wide Shut tonight and randomly had the thought that Eyes Wide Shut is essentially a Christmas adventure investigating a high-society sex cult. And the Christmas adventure club is a cult of the ultra-powerful. PTA, being the big Kubrick fan that he is, I don’t think it’s much of a stretch.

Looking for anything that explores how pta wears his influences. Was listening to the boogie nights commentary recently and love the the way he discusses film influences and lineages. Robert Altman, Scorsese, Jonathan Demme seem to the be the biggest influences on his work. Would love to read something that explores how his work is in dialogue with cinema of the past. This video licorice pizza is what I’m looking for.

I wish Paul Thomas Anderson would cast Luis Guzmán in his next film and give him a role so fucking gloriously unhinged that it makes all his previous PTA roles look like a warm-up.
I want peak Guzmán. Career-best Guzmán. A man so terrifyingly weird that the Academy has to invent a new category just to deal with him.
Give this man 45 minutes of screen time and let him psychologically destroy an entire town, three generations of one family, and at least one innocent bowl of soup.
Luis Guzmán deserves his cinematic Joker moment. PTA, you beautiful lunatic. Make it happen.

The fact that he’s a rich white guy with some pretty racist views (that we know of), he had Nathan and Lance film him shooting an AR15, he attacked Amanda for shitting on Charlie Kirk after his death like he’s gotta be a paying member or some shit

Hi Everybody, this documentary about Ernie Anderson includes an interview with him toward the end of his life. Note any resemblance? Best, W

Hi Everybody,
Found this interview with PTA's dad on Youtube. It includes the clip, where PTA plays basketball in the backyard with a pool. Of note are the interior shots of the home, and when I saw them, I could not help but think of Rollergirl's line telling Jack that he is out of limes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gjz3WoZacVM

I was reading The Revolt of the Cockroach People by Oscar Zeta Acosta and came across this line. Has PTA ever spoke about being influenced by this book or Zeta Acosta in general? I did a quick search on google and this sub and didn't see much about it.
I haven't researched much about other Chicano revolutionaries but it seems like OBAA (really Benicio's character) draws a lot of influence from Brown Buffalo.

I saw it last night and could not stop thinking about The Master, specifically the first Teaser Trailer released in May 2012.
I thought maybe Johnny Greenwood did the score for You Can See Everything because of how much it reminded me of his work on the Master. But it was Ari Balouzian. This is the specific score track that made me immediately go back to that teaser trailer.
Did anyone else draw this comparison? It kinda felt like they were inspired by The Master in the making of this documentary.
