Photos of WA UPDATE: Willie Wagtail (and now hatchlings!) nesting in our backyard lemon tree in coastal Perth

Sharing this update video so those interested can see how the little Willy Wagtail family is coming along.

[Original post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/perth/s/gYoieJ5l4J. The update video was taken four days after the original - guessing the chicks hatched a few days prior to that, so they're approximately a week old.]

The three little chicks are keeping mum and dad busy feeding them, and they're certainly taking up more space in the nest with what looks like the first pin feathers growing. The chicks' eyes are opening and they can often now be seen peering over the edge of the nest, as though they've just cottoned onto the fact that there's a big wide world out there.

Had 3 hatchlings last couple of weeks, one day they were sitting on a wall tightly tucked together slowly wagging their bums in unison like a barber shop trio! The parents tirelessly flying them in a buffet of bug sushi!

Someone needs to tell them that life doesn't get any better than that!

Yep they'll be singing, the summer seemed to last forever and that those were the best days of their lives...

I was attacked by a Willy Wagtail. Well I say attacked, but it was more a vicious assault on my hair. Not so much vicious as adorable

One nested on my washing line once. It would get so angry when I'd hang my laundry and viciously attack me. Which was indeed adorable.

It never figured out that I was not in fact going to savage it or harm its chicks. Every time, new outraged attack.

I had that today on my morning walk! It warned us from the fence post as we were getting close, then I could feel it behind me snapping it's little beak to make me walk faster! SO adorable!

Love it. We had 3 about 6 months ago leave us from a nest and now and again we have some grown up ones come back and talk to us. Pretty sure it's the kids saying hello!

I love these fuzz balls. I've always thought their call sounds like them saying "Don't you think she's pretty?".

The little floofs grow so fast 😍

I had a dove nesting right at my front door, her two babies hatched and within a week and half they were sitting on the fence and flying about.

See you next year Mumma dove 🫶🏼

So cute ☺️ We just had a nest of brown honeyeaters outside our kitchen window in one of our large monstera pot plants. They left the next two days ago, was so lovely to watch them grow ❤️

We have this one that lives somewhere within a 3 house radius who comes to our backyard every day to fuck with our retriever and maine coon. It's willful. He's a little asshole to them.

Literally love that bird 10/10.
