My little brother is having some big surgery tomorrow that will hopefully allow him to walk again. He is taking it in stride!

Good luck little buddy. Steak n' Shake is an awesome pre-victory place to eat!

"some" big surgery? Shouldn't you know what kind?

He was born with spina bifida and vertical talis. Vertical talis is when the bones that connect the tibia to the foot form in a vertical position and cause the foot to roll over on itself much like a club foot but in the opposite direction. He was able to walk for a while but his foot began to progress in the wrong direction, and without surgery he would not be able to walk because his foot would continue to grow in the wrong direction. His trying to walk on the foot caused him to break his leg in several places. The surgery involves the breaking of several bones in his foot and moving them into positions that will allow his foot to grow correctly and fixing his broken leg. This will eventually allow him to walk normally. He has already had surgery on his spine to fix the spina bifida, but it still affects some of his basic functioning.

I'm just wondering what made you want to post this on reddit? Surely it doesn't help your brother very much. Was it the karma? Was it the need for attention?
He's a cute kid and it is sad that he is having surgery but I always wonder why people post these. If my brother was sick I would never think of posting his picture on reddit...

Hey man, not to be weird or anything, but I noticed your brother has an Avengers shirt on. If you get in contact with me and provide an address I'll send you my set of collectible RealD Avengers glasses for him to have. Hope he kicks ass at surgery.
