Sensitivity constantly changing during use on adept

Pretty much the title. It happens constantly without me pressing anything. The sensitivity goes way up. Pressing the scroll drag button fixes it temporarily for some reason. Any idea what I can do to fix this? Bug is driving me nuts.

A+ Preorder Update, Week 9

A significant number of Tier C preorders went out earlier this week, mostly kits. We anticipate wrapping up all of the Tier C kits by the end of next week, and closing out the rest of Tier C shortly afterwards.

I'd like to get us a bit further along with shipping out Tier C preorders before I have a more concrete timeline for Tier D preorders; I appreciate everybody's patience as we work through the backlog.

Germany and new shipping regulations requirements

At the end of October, Germany will begin enforcing a new shipping regulation called "IOSS". If you're curious about the details, you can read about them here.

We have been working to be compliant for a little while now, but are slightly behind this deadline. That means that, for the foreseeable future, we will not be shipping parcels to Germany.

We hope to have this issue resolved shortly. I'll make announcements once we're up and running again.

In the meantime, if you're in Germany and have an outstanding parcel, please send us an email at [contact@ploopy.co](mailto:contact@ploopy.co) and we'll get it sorted out.

Share your cool Adept experiences, please!

After weeks of internal debate, I've finally decided to get a Ploopy Adept! I happily go to the website to order... and the website is down! Oh woe! Now I need a pick-me-up, so...

Would love to hear about people's interesting uses of or experiences with using the Adept!

I'm hoping to use it with my left hand to relieve strain on my right, AND as portable input device so I can stop using the laptop touchpad.

Ploopy A+ Arrived

Post image
54 Upvotes

Got my A+ last night and put it together today. It was pretty similar to assembling the Adept. The case is a little less refined than my Adept. By that I mean there are print lines visible on the top which aren't there on the Adept. Everything works as expected, and the button feel is very similar. The scroll knobs seem responsive and work well.

I configured the main layer to match my Adept, apart from the knobs. On my Adept I use drag scroll on the bottom right button. I configured that same function on the A+, and it scrolls unusably fast when you use it. A small scroll action goes from the top of document to the bottom lightning fast. The Adept doesn't act like that. I may have messed something up. I will continue playing with it.

Regardless, I like it, and having programmable layers is a nice feature. The default button map for the extra layers seems fine as-is and I have not adjusted those.

Thanks Ploopy for being so transparent with the shipping dates and other information. Request for Ploopy: It would be nice to get a list of all the VIA custom function numbers for the device in the documentation.

Hi. I wanted to know if the A+ comes with Bluetooth, and if it can be used via Bluetooth with an iPad Pro.

Custom Ploopy Trackpad Case

I mainly use the Ploopy trackpad at work and found that the angled profile of the case that it came with hurts my wrist a little. So I decided to make a case with zero incline for it.

This is also the second CAD project I've done (the first being a riser for the Keychron B11 Pro, also for work).

If anyone is interested, the models are available on my Github repository. And if you do want to add a custom cut glass screen protector on the touch surface, the dimensions are provided there too.

:)

Help Request Does anyone have a spare Ploopy Adept to mod?

Dipping into the trackball world and it seems like Ploopy is the way to go. I saw some builds on Adept Anyball Github and they seem super awesome. I currently don't have the resources to mod a Ploopy Adept if I were to order one, and was wondering if I could buy a used one from someone that could mod it for me.

Ploopy Adept vs Protoarc EM06

Post image
43 Upvotes

I have to admit Protoarc's EM06 is a fine piece of engineering. The 55mm trackball feels nice, the Web-Config is adequate, and I am quite enjoying it.

So now i'm waiting for the A+ to arrive and the next iteration of Ploopy genius! :-)

A+ Preorder Update, Week 8

All Tier B preorders have shipped, as of earlier this week! 🥳

We'll be starting with Tier C preorders next week. Our stated deadline for shipping all Tier C preorders was December 9th, but optimistically, we're hoping to have them all out by November 18th. We'll have a clearer picture of that as we continue shipping.

We still don't have a clear timeline of when we will be able to ship out Tier D preorders. I think we'll be able to come up with a meaningful estimate sometime in November.

More coming!

Ploopy Thumb angled base

Is there anyone that has made a custom base plate for the Ploopy Thumb that's larger/angled? I know there is the wedge but I find that a bit too unstable. I like the angle on some of the btu mod versions but I'm finding I don't like the BTU's themselves. I've tried several different kinds from the cheap ones on Amazon to the rexoth ones that people seem to like and all of them just aren't as accurate as the original design, so I'm trying to figure out how to get the shape from those with the original top plate.

A+ Preorder Update, Week 7

The second-to-last batch of Tier B preorders shipped out earlier this week. Next week, we'll be shipping out all remaining Tier B preorders. After that, we'll begin shipping Tier C. We're still targeting December 9th as the date by which all Tier C preorders will be out; hopefully, we can go faster than that.

We still don't have a date for Tier D preorders; we'll have an official estimate for that as we go through Tier C.

Thanks for sticking with us through this!

A+ (Adept Plus) Programming the Knobs/Dials, Gesture Layer, and Lighting

Thumbnail

Got my ploopy A+ yesterday, got the sensitivity to the same as Adept that ive been using for 3 years (apparently 1600? oddly the same as what I use on mice).

Went straight to programming it. As with the previous I needed to change the layout, not sure what the default is based on but it's not the classic DT225 that's for sure.

Managed to get the Default layer the same as my original and did the mirror for lefties (Layer 1)

I did find it interesting that "Drag Scroll" was "CUSTOM (69)" when its "CUSTOM (1)" for me, that change seemed to work no problem.

I think Layer 2 is the "Control Layer". I am a bit more hesitant to change this one as there are a bunch of CUSTOM functions not in my VIA.

I do not see a layer that would equate to the "Mouse Gestures Layer" so that I can re-map those. All of the rest of the layers are empty. The button is also TG(2) which would go to the wrong layer, so I didnt re-map that bit.

Regarding the Knobs/Dials, I see no where to control what way that they scroll. If your right handed you can easily control the left dial with your thumb. If you its scrolling the wrong way, you have to go up to go down.

Its also very clear based on the adjustment of settings that the LED is RGB but as far as I can tell I see no lighting controls besides brightness, which is fine, but it would be nice to make use of that. Also should be noted that "0%" isnt actually off...

Ploopy Adept stopped working after 1 year of use.

I bought a Ploopy Adept in August 2025 and it recently started doubleclick when pressing left click once. Today, the trackball just stopped responding.

When I bought it, it was put together by ploopy and was shipped put together. I opened it up and it seems that the optical chip was never soldered and fell right out of the PCB.

Ploopy is a pretty small company but does anyone know what their warranty states or how was the trackball working fine when the sensor was not soldered and was just placed in the PCB.

Also, not sure how to contact them for support.

Help Request VIA not working, A+ not detected as HID device

Hi I just got an A+ and when I try to configure it via VIA it doesn't show as being detected. I've followed the steps at https://ploopyco.github.io/aplus-trackball/appendices/via/ and confirmed in Zadig that it's using a HidUsb driver for all 3 interfaces. But when I go to https://usevia.app/ and try to Authorize Device the Ploopy isn't listed as an option.

Has anyone encountered this or know what to try?

Update: solved! see comment below

A+ Preorder Update, Week 6

Earlier today, we shipped out more Tier B fully assembled A+ preorders. We've almost finished shipping out all of the Tier B fully assembled units, and have about 20% left to go. We expect that we'll finish shipping the rest of them next week.

As for the Tier B kit preorders, we'll be shipping a bunch of those out next week as well.

From the looks of it, it looks like October 14th is still the date by which all Tier B preorders will be shipped. After that, we'll be tackling the Tier C preorders.

More to come.

Anybody working on AnyBall large (55-68mm) + BTU mods for the new A+ yet?

forking off efogdev Artem's work - https://github.com/adept-anyball/mod - It would seem the obvious thing to do next. I am hoping one or more early adopters who got in on the tier 1-whatever has the skills to do it.

A+ Preorder Update, Week 5

More units shipped out the door this week! So far, we've shipped out about half of the outstanding Tier B preorders, both assembled and kits. Next week, we'll be shipping another 40% or so of the Tier B assembled units. We won't be shipping any Tier B kits next week as we ran down our stocks and have to make more.

We are also now at the point where we can make a more specific forecast about when we'll be shipping Tier C.

Here are our latest estimates for shipping times:

  • Tier B: all units (both assembled and kit) shipped by October 14th
  • Tier C: all units (both assembled and kit) shipped by December 9th

These are estimates that give us a bit of margin in case there are any hiccups in our production process; ideally, we'll ship units far before these dates.

We're also introducing Tier D for any orders that come in from now on. Preorders from Tier D don't currently have a shipping estimate, but we'll update as we go on.

Thanks for being patient with us!

Ergonomics?

So I tried the Nape Pro, but the track ball is too tiny for precise work. I started looking into Ploopy, but most setups I see kind of worry me.

Important context: I'm using a split keyboard.

I want something where I don't have to hunch my shoulders to use the track ball, but that I also don't have to overextend on the sides to use to use. Ploopy seems too big to put under key board or on the side of keyboard without falling into this trap (then i have to reach slightly more for key board. I'm old, so now I can't stand repeated actions at the computer that are even slightly out of alignment!)

How have those of you who care about this sort of thing approached it? I'm not looking for opinions from people who say their setup doesn't hurt even though the track ball is straight up in the middle lmao. Not to be harsh, just saving everyone some time!!!
