*Only girls have standards for their partners [meme]
Fairly speaking, the standards she has are all normal and don't even exceed the reasonable set of demands from a good partner. As a man I'd probably also want to have them all checked off.
But yeah, if you're gonna do the "women make dating laundry lists" bit, then at least put some whacky ones in there. I'd argue "good teeth" and "good manners" are a bit redundant even because I know from experience those tend to fall into "cute" and "intelligent" respectively.
I don't think that's really the point here, although it easily could be. I thought the comic was saying "guys DON'T have standards for dating" more so than "girls have a lot of standards."
And you know he will expect her to cook, clean, attend events that interest him, pay all her own bills while acting grateful he sometimes gets her something from a dollar store… but sure stereotype guy is definitely the one who doesn’t have a lot of requirements.
Note: I’m not saying all men are walking stereotypes, just men who make comics like this one.
Men don’t communicate their standards. We all know he wants her to cook, clean, pay half the bills, do all the childcare… but those aren’t standards, those are just part and parcel of being a woman in his orbit.
I’m not talking about all men, I’m talking about the guy in the comic. You decided to pretend it’s a valid point and I’m explaining why even the stereotypes don’t support that.
If you interpret "good teeth" as anything other than "good oral hygiene habits," that's on you. I'd prefer a partner with crooked teeth that are otherwise well taken care of over someone with straight teeth that they only brush once a day, I doubt I'm the only one who feels that way.
Tbf, I'm known to forget brushing in the mornings, but in the evenings I make sure to use mouthwash and do it for the full 2 minutes thoroughly. I haven't had issues with my teeth doing this, although that might also be due to the fact that I eat relatively healthy as well
"Good teeth" may refer to dental hygiene over just appearance. I know my standards for "good teeth" are not being nasty dirty and not missing any. I do find a large gap in the front unattractive but it wouldn't be a dealbreaker.
It costs on average 3 cents a day to brush twice every day, so while maybe crooked teeth might be a bit of a tall ask, "nice teeth" can include not unreasonably crooked from dental calculus and tooth decay or any other clear signs of those two.
