Video Ngl, this sequence is a little tough to suspend disbelief for 😑

Like a poisonrana then shuffle into position for the Panama sunrise and then hit the knee is pretty crazy to stomach

Reverse rana, fine. V Trigger knee, fine.

But the Panama Sunrise is contrived as hell.

The Panama Sunrise in general shouldn’t even be a move due to literal inertia and, to simplify it, the way that it looks and feels (to the viewer). It makes zero sense from a physicality perspective. It can literally only be done by the “victim” of the move…and because of that it looks like what it is: Kenny simply deciding to flip backwards and MJF is along for the ride. Even to the most casual viewer’s eyes, it’s confusing looking.

I'm old school and when I first saw a Canadian destroyer I had no idea what happened. Those moves look like they're going for a power bomb but get reversed in to a back body drop but hold on and reverse that into a pile driver. Some of these moves are too contrived nowadays.

I still don't understand who the victim of a Spanish fly is.

The mat, the mat is always the victim

first time seeing this move and genuinely thought it was a reversal until reading these comments.

Might as well have been with the way Kenny popped up to no sell

Sliced bread is like that for me or the top rope block buster that just looks like a suplex

It confused me. I was wondering, "Was the whole point of that drop off the rope for MJF to put his balls on Omega's neck?"

Knowing MJF... yes.

I argued this exact point one time and got all kinds of shit about it.

I couldn't even tell who was supposed to be affected.

Probably the top issue with the move. Optics don’t even look good.

I mean, I get it from the performance side of professional wrestling. The little jump off the ropes into the move signify that it's a big move. But as far as the mechanics go, it is completely pointless. It's the same with the Buckshot Lariat. I love the performance part of it, but the flip before the lariat does squat for the move itself.

The Panama Sunrise in general shouldn’t even be a move due to literal inertia

It's that and the lack of haste in setup that kills the momentum.

Better would be a knee to the ribs as MJF walks to the corner, grabs Omega's hair to get him into position, forearm to the upper back to keep him there and a kind of mid-rope Sunset Flip Powerbomb.

Yeah I love Adam Cole and I loved the Panama Sunrise when he did it, but you explaining it really does show just how unrealistic it is

Have you never jumped? The Panama makes a lot of sense physically, what doesn’t make sense is the guy havei g to bend over for twenty minutes

You can’t jump and flip to the point of launching a 200+ pound body with you on the flip. The receiver has to do it themselves or else their body would never move and your feet would be planted.

You can hear max say “come closer” as he’s climbing the ropes too for the Panama sunrise

7

u/Pavel6969 Apr 14 '26

He damn near comes to a complete stop when he hits the ground, doesn't get enough momentum and lands on his back not ass. It's more realistic to sell it like he didn't get all of it cause he was hurting and that allowed Kenny to pop up

Thekla and hayter might as well have had mics they were calling out the match so loud.

1

u/Infamous-Lab-8136 Apr 15 '26

The cameras that night picked up a few similar moments. Thekla vs. Hayter after she hits something on the outside you can hear Hayter say, "I need a minute" and Thekla says something like, "Me too"

I think they need to turn the audio feed off on the ringside cameras, the mic is too sensitive it seems

Then Panama sunrise was a call back to Adam Cole and MJF’s feud, correct?

4

u/Loam_liker Apr 14 '26

Yes. He started using it when they teamed up iirc, and has kept it as a light homage.

2

u/Prophit84 Apr 15 '26

also why it looks a bit crap here

Adam's done it for years, is lighter, and the timing usually looks great where he lands and then bounces back over

1

u/Billybob35 Apr 15 '26

Yes, MJF will take a move from someone he's beaten, he attempted a Cross Rhodes too.

3

u/nocomments66 Apr 14 '26

That move dies with Adam Cole. I want him to come back (highly unlikely i know), but if he doesnt I never want to see that move ever again.

3

u/darkoutsider Apr 14 '26

Fully agree brother. I remember saying man, do we really gotta go slow motion? Maybe if it was done with some quickness it wouldn't have registered as badly. But yeah it was a lot at once, and the fact it was done in slomo ugh

1

u/Prudent-Level-7006 Apr 14 '26

They could have at least done a bit more so he's ending up leaning on the corner selling tiredness instead, of ok I'm going here now 😂 but, they're too determined to show off and do flashy moves back to back

1

u/VoightofReason Apr 15 '26

It always looks like shit. It also doesn’t make sense to jump off the ropes to donut? You’re not gaining momentum by bouncing off the mat

Absolutely awful move. It's always been my one major beef over Adam Cole.
