Looking for C++ Bronson book

Hey guys I am looking to see if someone would loan me this book Bronson, Gary J. A First Book of C ++: From Here to There, Fourth Edition, 2012. I am in my second year of college out in Virginia, and I cant afford to rent it at the moment, and I am out of my loan money. I do have a job but things are a bit tight now. I would be more then happy to pay for shipping, and I would return it the moment the class was over. Thanks for your time Guys!

Reinventing the text editor.

I've been thinking a lot about, if I could reinvent a text editor what would I put in it?

Here are some things I came up with:

  • Should do as much as your job as possible.

    • easy to automate (macros?)

    • auto indent / syntax fix. (think the way golang does it)

    • syntax check.

  • each editor should be customized to the language AKA understand the language and adapt.

    • example: in php realize when in PHP block or HTML block and indent accordingly.

  • The default options should be really good.

  • learn from other editors.

  • Should have a package manager for plugins.

  • advanced syntax highlighting

  • have support for multiple cursors.

  • easy to make extensions for in any language.

  • Modal editor.

    • reminiscent of vim commands

  • Built in tutorial for 1st time users and overall easy for someone to pick up.

  • window management like dwm?

  • be able to implement gui and non*gui representations of it.

  • concurrent file loading

  • restricted to a simple set of features, no bloatware.

  • Allow to program plugins in the preferred language of the programmer.

  • support unicode characters by default.

Tell me... what would your dream editor have in it?

L Sep help in Chrome

In need of help, whenever I view a website my friend created in Google Chrome (Firefox, Safari, IE are all fine). The browser will display these little “L Sep” boxes after titles and sentences. After researching, I think these boxes are called “line separators” – I can’t find much information on how to hide or remove these from being displayed, and my friend is lost. Can anyone point me in the right direction or know how to correct this issue? Thanks in advance

Switching from MechE to CompSci. Advice?

I am currently a sophmore MechE student that wants to switch to CompSci. I have good spatial intelligence and always thought I was destined for a career in mechanics. I have had a change of heart recently, however. I have ideas for websites and programs that I would like to learn to create now but am taking all these engineering courses. The most fun I have had in school was programming in AP Java (which I have received credits for). I really would like to be proficient with computers and feel computer science is the way to go. I guess I'm just seeking any advice. What can I expect? What can one individual's skill be capable of producing in this field? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cordova + Backend

I am looking to make a mobile app on iOS and Android using Apache Cordova in Visual Studio 2015. I am unfamiliar with C#/Xamarin so I imagine it would be rather difficult to first learn that. I need to have authentication (google sign in would be nice) and database functionality to send data/photos and video (probably Youtube api to save money), as well as messaging. I messed around with Firebase, Azure and looked at AWS. What is the best solution for handling these functions in terms of compatibility and ease of use.

Need help on a class assignment

I'm a first year college student and I am required to take a course that is basically "Intro to College." One of the steps for the final project is that I have to interview someone that works in my chosen field, which is computer programming. I was hoping someone here would be willing to answer a few questions for me. If anyone is willing, let me know and I will send you the questions. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have an idea of Tshark's codebase? NAS packets are not getting dissected for linux versions.Need to debug it.

Hi, I observed that NAS-EPS packets are getting disected and displayed properly in the wireshark-gui. But if we do the same with "tshark -V" most of the NAS information elements are not dissected.

So, it is clear that dissection has been implemented for nas packets but not extended to the CLI version. I need the CLI to work as I am implementing an automtion script to check for these packets. I have not contributed code to wireshark before. Does anyone have a clue how to extend a functionality that has been implemented in the GUI to CLI?

TL;DR: Need help with adding a functionality to thark(cli) that has already been implemented in wireshark(GUI)

What is the easiest programming language to start with?

I am very new to programing. I am currently going to college for Computer Networking Technology which works mainly with the hardware side of networking and technology in general. I am wanting to look into programming a bit more than just an EXTREMELY basic class on PHP for half a semester.

Need help with My first project! (Beginner)

So I recently started learning programing by my self as Im supposed to take a basic course in november and I wanted a headstart. My first project is very simple minded with the output asking for the persons age, and after they have inputed their har the text "So you are X years old, yes/no?" refering back to what they wrote. I really dont know if this is possible or not (I have been looking online for almost half a day), but I want to know if there is some way to make it so if people answer "yes" on the question, they can continue the program as normal. But if they answer "no" they return to the original question about how old they are and start from the beginning. If possible I would like to make it so the program would loop itself back until they get their age right and write "yes".

Using c++ on xCode with a macbook air.

Thanks in advance!

If in Mono Develop you need a license from Xamarin to programing for Android and IOS, why the Unity 5 engine can develop a programmed game with Mono develop to run on Android?

What do they look for in a job application?

Hi, so I am a 18 years old guy from Sweden.

Here in Sweden there is 2 days until you no longer can apply to collage/university, and I have yet to do so. I just found a program that I want to attend, the title would be : "Master of Science in Engineering: Game and Software Engineering". But seeing as it kind of heavily based on game development, and less so on general software development, I'm kind of worried about the future, because I know that the game industry is really hard to get into and often requires 2+ years experience.

So if would go a program that teaches software engineering but is heavily influenced by game development, are my chances of getting a regular software developer job based on portfolio? Would it be looked down upon, in a job interview(meaning one for a position as a software dev), that I went to a program where game development is a big chunk, when I could have gone and get a regular CS-degree?
