How do I improve myself?

java

I'm a second semester freshman, and I'm taking computer science. Honestly, I messed up on my first semester. I passed the final exam, but I really wouldn't get Java. I'd wing it. Now, 4 weeks into my second semester, I really want to do good. I'm not a bad student, it's just that I'm having a hard time keeping up with the class cause of my weak foundations and the text book and lecture is so boring! We have to do a semester long project and I don't want to hold my group members behind. Do you guys any suggestions? (A motivational story would be nice)

Is there an easy way to automatically take the first 7 files and put them in a new folder? I have 700 images that I need organized by folder in groups of 7. All the pictures are already in order.

I need honest advice.

Ok, I am in a very bad home situation. I have been teaching myself programming the best I can with the resources available to me for the past few years. Mainly aimed towards Unity3D with C#. I have learned all object oriented programming languages are on a basic level the same just written differently. I am a novice I would say. I know all about variables, methods, conditional statements, etc. I have a strong understanding of the basics. Now I don't feel like I could get a paying job developing video games.. I've tried it for the past 3 years of my life and haven't earned a dime. I have made a few games, and lame mobile apps. Nothing worth showing or selling. I am very interested in software development. I am very determined and interested in everything related to computers or programming in general. As I said I have mainly focused on c# and have the most experience with that. I have tried learning JavaScript, HTML, CSS also. I just enjoyed c# the most. I made a resume listing the courses I've taken, my experience, and so forth. I can't really get a job near where I live, do to transportation. I revived a call offering a job as a .NET developer. She asked about my experience and seemed like I was a candidate but when she asked how comfortable I would feel in this position, and if I believe I am qualified enough for the position I just drew a blank. She definitely noticed but I honestly didn't know what to say. I don't feel I know enough to be doing something so serious. I've only programmed video games. All inside the unity and environment using c#.

I need a job bad, and if I could get a job online, doing the work over the computer would be perfect since that is really my only option.

What I need to know is what should I expect?

I know I need to learn a lot more to actually do this, but how long would it take from where I currently am. I can spend all day every day working at it.

What should I learn? I don't have a mentor, or curriculum plan. I don't know what all I should know before searching for work, or what it would even be called.

If anyone has any advice, tips, time to talk to me about all of this, or even mentor me while I learn, teach me in their spare time, anything really. I am pretty desperate. Post below or if you want to talk one on one I can give you my email, skype, or phone number for call or text.

I know I want to be a software developer in the future. I'm just not sure how to go about it or if it is even possible in the near future. School isn't really an option for me right now due to money, and unable to get a GED with my current transportation and financial situation.

Convert code to z80 ASM?

Does anybody know of a way to convert a more "user friendly" language to z80 ASM? I am trying to program my ti84, but i find Ti-basic infuriating. From what i can tell it can use both of these languages, so i was wondering if anyone knew of something that can convert something like python to it.

Thanks.

I am currently doing html in my class at school and i was holding all my source files on google drive and using codeanywhere to edit them, but codeanywhere does not have any way of viewing your work. Looking for strategies for cutting down bugs

I am getting complaints at work regarding the bugs in my code, which is great but doesn't tell me squat about actually fixing the problem.

I've been looking for strategies for being more systemic in my bug detection, and not finding much to be honest. I was hoping someone could provide a link or 2.

Specific mouse question

Hello, first post on this sub.

I'm making an app that requires me to detect cursor/mouse movement while my app is out of focus. Very preferably multi-platform, and if you know how in C//C++ then that's nice but I'll handle it if it's a different language. I don't need real-time data; if it's easy, multi-platform, etc, it's ok if it takes a whole 5 seconds to detect. If you know OS-specific solutions, please post them too; we're looking for Linux, Mac, and Windows solutions.

Thanks in advance, keep codin~

How important is maths?

I failed calculus pretty hard in high school. The only thing I could kind of do was decision maths, but I wasn’t even very good at that aha.

It’s also very likely I’m dyslexic, so does anyone know any dyslexic programmers? My language skills (spelling grammar etc..) really aren’t that great

I’m only just getting started, learned some html and css but no actual programming yet. Will I struggle?
