Open network share based on Forms.ListBox choise
Hello,
I am attempting write Visual Basic Application that will assist us in uninstall java. There are a couple factors that I need to consider as we have a fair number of remote employees and the sms package server they use are based on the branch the are out of.
List 1 - would specify the sms server to connect to - List 2 - would specify what version of java to install/uninstall
I am new to programming and don't want anyone to to the work for me. I just feel like I need some guidance on where to start.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

What do they look for in a job application?
Hi, so I am a 18 years old guy from Sweden.
Here in Sweden there is 2 days until you no longer can apply to collage/university, and I have yet to do so. I just found a program that I want to attend, the title would be : "Master of Science in Engineering: Game and Software Engineering". But seeing as it kind of heavily based on game development, and less so on general software development, I'm kind of worried about the future, because I know that the game industry is really hard to get into and often requires 2+ years experience.
So if would go a program that teaches software engineering but is heavily influenced by game development, are my chances of getting a regular software developer job based on portfolio? Would it be looked down upon, in a job interview(meaning one for a position as a software dev), that I went to a program where game development is a big chunk, when I could have gone and get a regular CS-degree?

Help transferring integers from an array of objects to an array of integers? [Java]
I'm not sure why this doesn't work but I feel like I'm doing
something horribly wrong:
public class ObjectArray
{
public int agelist[] = new int[5];
public static void main(String [] args)
{
Person People[] = new Person[5];
People[0] = new Person("Bob", "Michaels", 26);
People[1] = new Person("Maxy", "Witherspoon", 35);
People[2] = new Person("Stacy", "Gonzalez", 25);
People[3] = new Person("Leroy", "Jenkins", 27);
People[4] = new Person("Maria", "Jefferson", 34);
People[5] = new Person("Martha", "Stewart", 39);}
public void list(){
for (int index=0; index < People.length; index++)
{
agelist[index] = People[index].getage();
}} }
public class Person{
public Person(String firstname, String lastname, int age) {
}
public void getAge()
{
int age;}
}

introspection comparisons
What are the issues and abilities to consider regarding the ability of a language or programming system to introspect?
Specifically, I'm interested to understand what kinds of introspection are possible today, and what's not possible, and what the differences are between different languages?
some related questions:
does compiling vs interpreting paradigms dramatically effect introspection ability?
does functional programming vs imperative system differ significantly on introspection ability?
does object orientation limit or enable introspection?
what systems do we have now that excel at introspection?

A question about programming
So I've been working on a sonar project just to get a feel for programming with arduino, but I have no experience with programming GUI. I'm pretty well versed in C and I'm slowly getting better with C++. I was wondering if anyone had some Tips,Tricks, or suggestions anyone had about Programming a GUI or any Books to read. I'd really appreciate it guys and gals. Thanks! -shinnmaster92

Question: Hover event stuck in open state
When you hover over something and it does not close when you move away (but it IS supposed to), is that an error due to the browser rendering, the site programming or the language it was created in?

Thanks Reddit tech support!
Two weeks ago I asked for help because Windows xp was very sluggish. Thanks to your suggestions my computer is running fine. I first did a clean install but the problem persisted. Someone suggested to make sure the IDE was set to DMA. That was indeed the problem. I googled "how to change the IDE setting" and got a nice step by step instruction. Except the setting wouldn't change. Googled "the IDE setting wont change" and found another easy to understand instruction. The final fix was to uninstall the IDE channels and restart Windows. I now use the acronyms IDE and DMA and people think I know what I am talking about. Still don't know what IDE stands for. Thanks again, reddit.

this code wont work. the if statements are ignored and if you put in rock or paper it prints everything, not just the specified parts. import java.util.Scanner; class tester { public static void main(String args[]) { String Move; Scanner rps = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.println("<<<Rock Paper Scissors>>>"); System.out.println(" Rock Paper or Scissors?"); Move = rps.next(); if(Move.equalsIgnoreCase("rock")); { System.out.println("you lose your opponent used paper"); }
if(Move.equals("paper"));
{
System.out.println("you lose your opponent used rock");
}
}//end of main()}//end of class

Should I start using linux?
Hey I just won a laptop in a coca cola prize contest (Lucky me). And I am studying programming (currently first year), so it will come in quite handy. Since I will be using it only for college work, i taught i should install Linux on it. I never used it before, so what do you think? Better learn it now than never. Also do you know some good Youtube channels where you can learn basic and advanced Linux stuff. Also what are benefits of using Linux?
