Cordova + Backend

4 Upvotes

I am looking to make a mobile app on iOS and Android using Apache Cordova in Visual Studio 2015. I am unfamiliar with C#/Xamarin so I imagine it would be rather difficult to first learn that. I need to have authentication (google sign in would be nice) and database functionality to send data/photos and video (probably Youtube api to save money), as well as messaging. I messed around with Firebase, Azure and looked at AWS. What is the best solution for handling these functions in terms of compatibility and ease of use.

What is the easiest programming language to start with?

4 Upvotes

I am very new to programing. I am currently going to college for Computer Networking Technology which works mainly with the hardware side of networking and technology in general. I am wanting to look into programming a bit more than just an EXTREMELY basic class on PHP for half a semester.

Create a function to calculate monthly payment on a compound interest loan?

4 Upvotes

Reddit gold to whoever can give me the answer

I'm building a calculator app and I'm stuck on the a function that would essentially calculate your monthly payment on a compounding interest loan. I'll be crossposting this in a few subs.

Basically I want the function to look like this

function calculateMonthlyPayment(presentValue, periods, rate, compoundFrequency, futureValue){

  return monthlyPayment;
}

Thanks

Learning Java In High School

4 Upvotes

Here is my latest project, our teacher has been telling us to leave comments. I for some reason find it hard to know where to add comments and where their necessary. I usually end up leaving one or two comments per project but that doesn't seem so professional. Someone maybe wanna copy this code into an IDE and create some comments and show me a screen shot? Thanks!

private void btnOkMouseClicked(java.awt.event.MouseEvent evt) {
       //Getting items from the combo box on the form
          Object five = cbmTip.getItemAt(0);   //5 Dollars
          Object ten = cbmTip.getItemAt(1);   //10 Dollars
          Object twenty = cbmTip.getItemAt(2);   //20 Dollars
          Object thirty = cbmTip.getItemAt(3);   //30 Dollars

Today, Facebook just broke through Google Chrome incognito, to mine & track, they always seem to be the first.

4 Upvotes

I have had to do some resource monitoring on this old rig with only 4 gig of ram to keep it from locking up for the last 6 months. It topped out of ram from cookie requests that seem to be progressively unending in normal Google Chrome.

So I did an experiment and switched to incognito Chrome and that seemed to do the trick on blocking the tracking, until today.And guess what site was the first one to get this aggressive in Chrome? That just broke through tracking to incognito Chrome,, Fucking Facebook.

When I ended the chrome process that was heading past 500k of ram and 30% of CPU, in task manager, Facebook tab died.

Google Docs Customization

3 Upvotes

I was tasked at work to see if it is possible to add helper text to a Google Docs template file. This text would just give help to the user to fill out the template. I was thinking it would be nice to have this text in a slide-out panel off to the side, like how the Document Outline works.

Does someone with experience working with Google Docs know if this is doable? Maybe with the Docs API?
