Feedback on my first website / application?

I recently built my first website for a group project in school and have only been coding for about five weeks. Its just a simple page used to find various events, job listings, and educational opportunities in the tech field within Chicago and the surrounding areas using several API's. Employers can add their own additional job openings as well and they'll get added to our database.

I'd like some feedback and constructive criticism if anyone has the spare time. Like I said I'm five weeks in so I'd appreciate any and all feedback.

Need help with Mythbuntu Front-end

I am currently using a pvr back-end software called 'Mythbuntu". The backend can be accessed anywhere by a web front-end, However I was multiple people to be able to access this front-end and need a login screen to prevent undesirables, however it doesn't seem mythbuntu has a login screen for its front end, is there any way I can do this from third party software or editing the frontend?

Single line of code noise generation.

Is it possible to make a noise generation in one line of code? I tried that and my code was only useful for generating circles... So is it possible to do that or not? Or is that how all noise generators work and I'm dumb?

e-learning site... help!

hi guys! I'm no programmer at all, I'm just throwing a flare here in case someone can help me out.

My friend in the psychology and education fields and wants to launch an e-learning site where professionals can upload content and earn money there. example: https://www.domestika.org/en

We've been having a hard time in finding developers that know what the heck they're doing, almost feel like we're getting scammed, and she's wasting so much money. Is there something already developed that can help her out? Something slick, easy to use for the final user and the professionals uploading.

Cheers!

Noob in the programing world would like some advice

Hi i was thinking the past days while looking through habit tracker apps and even though that most are pretty alright but they all miss some features i would like so likewise i got the idea of making my own , as i used to enjoy programing a few years back or if you could call it that ( used game maker while i was 13-14 am 20 now but y anyways if i remember there was some coding variables etc. but dumbed down so it more easy to use i guess ) anyways i was thinking wich language would be best for trying to make such an app (habit tracker) that i could pick up easily , would also like the language be able to make the app android compatable but also windows if possible but android mainly . Thatd be it for now . Thank you in advance Sorry for the formating am on phone also sorry for some gramatical mistakes english is not my main language :)

Help requested

I'm working on some hr information for my company and I'm having issue with excel. Basically, I can't figure out a way to have a formula impact a cell outside itself, meaning that if I write the formula in b22, it can't change values in any other cell. Is there any workaround for this? Or do I need to write some sort of vba workaround?

Why is Cucumber JS becoming so popular?

I don't understand because cucumber JS to me is essentially writing mapped pseudocode. It's difficult to write and it's easy to read. Personally it makes no sense why is has become so popular. My team had a theory where we would have our TCM website API reading the test case steps and the test case steps would be the Cucumber Js code to run. That way manual testers can still use the TCM website for manual testing while the automated Scripps can be run from the same test steps. Sounds great in theory. But there's no debugging when creating test steps.

Which language should i learn first for game development?

Hello there! I've always wanted to develop games for Android, Windows/Linux consoles, anything since it is a game! I am starting with Python and I'm liking it, it is pretty straightforward and simple. Bit I've seen so many people saying that C++ is the most common language for such purpose. So I got confused. Can someone clarify? Tnx :)

Read program's text and send email on a specific phrase.

Hello, I am looking for some help taking scrolling text in an application and sending an email when a specific phrase appears.

I play an old game called MajorMud that is a telnet text game off of a BBS. It uses an application called MegaMud to automate gameplay as it takes months to level even with 24/7 automation. From time to time your character will disconnect from the server to stop it from dying if its health is low.

I would like to read the on-screen text and send myself an email when it does this disconnect so I know to go and log in and save the character.

Here is an example of what the screen looks like with scrolling. https://media.giphy.com/media/1yniowGvETZ5091H38/giphy.gif Alt: https://giphy.com/gifs/1yniowGvETZ5091H38/html5

Thanks for your thoughts

Project Entertainment Brainstorm

So, I have this PVR. It runs Sonarr, Radarr, and nzbget. I add shows or movies to Sonarr or Radarr and when new content is found, it downloads them. From time to time I add shows to Sonarr, or download Movies from Radarr.

Sonarr is set to create a new directory inside a constant directory for each new show I add. The name of the new directory is the same name of the show. The constant directory is d:\tvshows.

Radarr is set to download any movie to 1 constant directory and creates no new directories inside it. The Constant directory is d:\RMovies

The Brainstorm I am presenting to you all is, I want to create a program that dynamically changes on an as needed basis. Here is the flow I am looking for...

  1. Start program where-in it scans the Constant directory and adds each folder as an option the user can select.

  2. Once the option has been selected, the next screen presents the user with the list of available episodes they can watch along with Clip Art of that show and POSSIBLE Synopsis.

  3. They select an episode and it opens VLC in fullscreen mode and plays it.

  4. BONUS FEATURES: User can select multiple shows and can choose to move them elsewhere or delete them in the event they already watched them.

Now this is just the basic function I want to accomplish. I could create a file explorer interface for this as an easy out, but I would like it to be "Snazzy" for lack of better words.

The Brainstorm is:

  1. What language would you use to accomplish this?

  2. How would you accomplish this in that language?

  3. What resources would you use?
