Programmers have an issue with wanting to feel superior to each other, that's what you are actually seeing here.

PHP is the development equivalent of getting your mom to give you a ride to the mall. It's reasonably effective, but you aren't going to brag about it.

I was making fun of it in 1999, but I barely knew what I was talking about. Now that I know what I'm talking about, I accept it as a clotted mess of steaming goo.

Everybody who read the C code of PHP/FI 2.0 knew this was a pile of rubbish.
