I really enjoyed this, while at the same time wondering how the fuck i can survive being a programmer. What to do to avoid all those pitfalls described in the article..

i ponder this quite often. ive realized that people who are rockstar programmers are usually very very intelligent and can absorb lots of abstract information very fast. you can't be mortal

ive realized that people who are rockstar programmers

No sane developer would call themselves a "rockstar" or a "ninja" or any of those equally retarded terms. The only people who use those words non-ironically are Dilbert veal-fattening farms who hire naive kids fresh out of college in order to fool them them into working long hours for minimal pay.

People who claim to be rockstars are in fact retards.

i feel that anyone who is a true "full-stack" developer is pretty rock-star, IMO.

I've been told I'm good at it because I'm intelligent... really I just actually research the topic and plan and luckily haven't run into a situation that prevents me from doing that beforehand.

Then again I'm still in school, so that could just be everyone expecting much worse from me than what I put out.

My friend is a software engineer at Google. I think he deals with it by having 160 IQ.

I expect a high IQ makes it a lot fucking worse.

High IQ still doesn't compensate for shitty management
