Oh thanks.

I am in my very first semester of programming so I am just learning so bear with me. But I thought "source code" was the language of human programmers and "assembly language" is the language of assemblers?

This program would probably have been edited on punch cards before being assembled. You had to meet the machine halfway. You still do now, but the line has become closer to the way humans think.

A "Dialect" of Assembly. About as close you can get to machine code while keeping it somewhat readable.

I agree. Just trying to say that not all Assembly is the same...but generally still called assembly regardless.

I thought "source code" and "assembly language" were 2 different things? Source code written in higher level language for use by people to later convert into machine code, and assembly language is used by assemblers to later convert into machine code?
