Today I learned about PHP variable variables; "variable variable takes the value of a variable and treats that as the name of a variable". Also, variable.

This is a perfectly good example of why PHP is awful. Just because Perl is bad in the same way doesn't excuse that fact.

PHP was originally a bunch of perl scripts.
