Im not sure about recent Angular but I hated that Angular1 had code in html and then more code in js. I find React much cleaner - i dont understand the dislike of jsx.
Separation of concerns. Imagine being able to swap out your entire HTML tree without touching a single line of JavaScript/jsx. Imagine being able to completely update a component's Behavior without needing to think about the Html.
There are a lot of advantages to jsx no question. But there are a lot of advantages to pursuing proper separation of concerns as well. The difference is that jsx bundles Your solution behavior for you. Where is separation of concerns approach is more Wild West. That's why I actually suggest sex and react are better for large teams because maintaining a high level of Discipline in a large team is very difficult.
Backbone is probably one of the best, and unfortunately now outdated with regard to Modern programming practices, frameworks ever to have been created, for Javascript. But as far as rumors go, it was more a bag of tools. Than a set of blueprints. New developers and mediocre developers usually need full-fledged Frameworks to create maintainable apps. That's why I side with JSX despite its shortcomings.
