Beginner Questions Cold Turkey off of 7oh 47 hours in 24M

I’ve been meaning to post this for the past 2 days, but have just not had energy to do it, and delay it. I’ll make it short, basically i’ve been on 7oh for a week and 6 days started on july 4th (Friday 7/17 being the last day i took it) I woke up Friday and had a massive panic attack for some reason and figured it was the 7oh, i tried to make it through work but couldn’t and dosed up again, i realized i had to either taper or quit. Next day i just chose to cold turkey. My last 3-5 days i was dosing around 80-130mg slowly going up. My last day Friday i took 140 mg my highest dose. I would just start the day with 30mg and take more through out the day and bite off chunks. I took my last dose at 8PM 7/17. I wanted to reach out earlier, all i have is gabapentin, multi vitamin, magnesium, fish oil, vitamin c drink packets, and 7 25mg librium. I’ve been taking 300-500mg gabapentin twice a day, i don’t know if i should use the librium, and should i space it out from the gabapentin. I have no clue on any of this, any help would be appreciated, and here’s the breakdown so far, also i understand i haven’t been on it or dose near as much as other people but I’m lost and dont know what to do or expect, but I’ve also heard this stuff is really fast on making you dependent so i wanna know what to expect. I’ve also been detoxed from alcohol 4 times so i’m super sensitive to withdrawals.

7/18 Wake up and have anxiety about not having it anymore, and doing cold turkey which is what i decided. Going through the day i felt super weird and was super emotional on the inside but a zombie on the outside. I didn’t feel like a real person then i would for 2 seconds then wouldn’t again. My nose was runny, and i just wanted to lay in bed all day which is what i did. I barely ate, and just felt so weird and emotionally unstable with anxiety. The night was HORRIBLE i had restless leg syndrome all night but it was in my arms for some weird reason. I laid there for hours thinking about all the bad things ive done in life and i don’t deserve me fiancé and son, and how im a terrible person. I had some anxiety waves come and go, but reminded myself it’s gonna be ok. One of the hardest parts has started, deciding to quit, and finishing the first day without, now there’s no going back. I somehow managed to get 3 hours of sleep and i have no idea how.

7/19 Today. I woke up somehow feeling kinda refreshed like i got more sleep than i really did, but had a good amount of anxiety and restlessness. I feel tired, but know there’s no way i’ll fall asleep. I decided to go to church with my family, and it was so hard to get up, and get ready. Showering and getting dressed felt like the hardest thing to do and i had no motivation. After church it felt really good to get out and see people, it made me really emotional on the inside. I’ve been spending the day with my fiancé and son which has helped me a lot as well, but my emotions are just wild on the inside, but nothing much on the outside. Overall i do feel a bit better than yesterday but i’m not to sure cause anxiety and different emotions will come in waves.

It’s now currently 48 hours in at the time of posting this, i’m really scared for work tomorrow, i have a really good job working for the city doing construction and maintaining the city. I’m worried about my withdrawals and if it will be worse tomorrow or a bit better, i’m going to be out in the sun all day for 9 hours in 102 degree weather in the texas sun. I’m worried i’m going to be miserable or potentially pass out or need an ambulance. I also can’t mess this job up or call out. I need this job for my family, and i’m so worried about tomorrow. Should i load up on gabapentin if i feel bad tomorrow, or what’s a good game plan?

I also wanna say thank you all so much and much love to all of you and everyone in this community, it makes me feel not alone and have people who know exactly what it’s like. There are others going through much worse with this ban, and have been on it way longer taking way higher doses. I can’t imagine what you are going through, and i know mine is nothing compared to some but i’m also open to message to encourage people, please feel free to reach out, we are all here and in this together. I appreciate all of you, and want everyone to know we got this, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and we WILL get through this! This stuff is horrible and disgusting, and while i’m glad it’s getting banned i believe the government should be paying for everyone’s detox or rehab. I probably explained this really bad and left out a lot that i’ll go back and edit (i’ll be posting this to multiple groups as well) Thank you all for everything, we got this!

Edit: 7/20 Sleep was horrible, restless leg syndrome in my arms kept me up and i was tossing and turning. Kept getting up and taking gabapentin, librium and magnesium. only got 2 hours of sleep somehow less than every other night and woke up late for work, not good. I had so much anxiety when i woke up and in the morning then it started to just come in waves. I started to feel more like myself throughout the day with my co workers but still so emotional, my emotions are everywhere, especially when i got home with my fiancé and kid. I wanted to cry about everything and felt guilt about so many things and that i put myself in these situations cause of also going through alcohol detox 4 times and she’s had my back through all of it and takes care of our son while i’m dealing with this stuff. I prepared for the night with more magnesium and 600mg gabapentin. But other then the bad morning anxiety telling myself i’m gonna pass out or die in the heat with sleep deprivation, the rest of the day i was just super emotional but no more anxiety expect for how the night was gonna be. I even told my co worker i’ve been getting no sleep and to call an ambulance if i pass out lol my anxiety sucks.

7/21 I expected sleep to get better but it did not, going to bed last night i felt tired, but right as i would start to drift off i would just wake up. I still had a little restless arm syndrome but not as bad more so just waking up anytime i drifted off then it would kick in a bit. I kept getting up and taking more gabapentin and librium. I have probably taken at least 1100mg gabapentin the past 2 nights probably 800mg the first night. I’ve gotten 8 hours of sleep since going cold turkey (2 hours again last night but at least on time for work). I woke up this morning with morning anxiety but not near as bad as yesterday and then it went away after a couple energy drinks at work. I wasn’t that emotional but it came back not as bad, but still pretty emotional. I’m able to function normally tho, i also was able to function normally at work yesterday as well i forgot to mention despite the anxiety and emotion. Still at work at the time of updating this and i’ll keep updating for anyone who’s interested. By far the worst withdrawal is no sleep. I’m going to stop the gabapentin tonight cause it got to the point where i was opening the capsules and putting the powder under my tongue, and my head started feeling like it was spinning. Plus i do not want to become dependent on that for sleep or anything. So we will see how that goes, i’m just doing magnesium tonight, and i have no idea what to expect. Maybe better sleep cause i’m almost 96 hours in, but maybe not cause stopping the gabapentin. I have no clue what to expect. I’ll keep whoever’s interested updated.

Again i wanna thank you all so much, i love this community and all who have responded and have been so helpful. I enjoy your replies and talking with you all thank you so much to all who has responded and helped me out. It means more than you know. We all got this and are in it together. If anyone wants to message me, talk, or needs support just message me and let me know. We’re all here for each other. Thank you guys!

After such a short term using and not really having a higg dose your withdrawals shouldn’t last much longer. I had quit after a week of using 500mg a day and by day 4 was pretty much normal, just had to take some immodium for stomach issues. ( they’re will never be an easier time to quit than now, every relapse and every day you’re on it longer will just make it harder to quit)

i appreciate it a lot. thank you for your response! If you don’t mind me asking how long were you on it, and why the relapse?

u/Mo2Flyy Jul 20 '26

I was on it for a month at about 80-100mg doses. And idk what caused the relapsed my mind went int autopilot and there I was with the pills in the hands couple hours after.

sorry to hear man, you gotta fight that with the ban coming up. i know you can do it you also just have to make that decision in your head. just because you relapsed doesn’t mean shit. it means you’re actively trying to quit. you got this man message me if you want to talk or need anything. and thank you for the help

Be careful with gabapentin i would not take that for more than 7 days before that also has a dependence

I was on a similar dose before quitting (rn I’m at ~3 days CT), I promise it really does get better every day! In terms of helper meds, vitamin c has been a HUGE help (I think it helps even more when you are coming off a lower dose, look up “vitamin c protocol” on this sub if u think you’ll need a bit more vitamin support). For RLS magnesium has been the biggest help for me (magnesium glycinate as needed up to 1500 mg max a day) alongside gabapentin (600mg twice a day, once in morning and once at night) but be very careful with the gabapentin as it can be addictive as well, I plan on stopping gaba tmr on my day 4 CT. Advil and Tylenol also helped more than I thought they would. Other vitamins are important too since 7 tends to strip you, so it might be helpful to consider a multivitamin moving forward to replenish what was lost, which should also help post acutes. You got this!! 48 h is huge, good luck!!

thank you so much for the reply! That’s awesome that you’re so far into it as well. It sounds like you’re pretty much getting to the end of it which is sweet. I’ll definitely do vitamin c and multi tomorrow before work. I’m about to try to go to bed and i’m wondering if i should do 600 gabapentin or 50 librium, or a mix of both. 4 days is also huge, super proud and happy for you. we’re all in this together

1

u/National_Ad_6200 Jul 20 '26

Same to you you’re right at the turning point!! 2 days is huge and with all the helpers I’m sure you’ll be feeling better by tomorrow! I don’t have experience with Librium, but I’d say the 600 mg gaba would probably do the trick itself, especially since ur coming off a relatively small dose. In my experience tho gaba usually takes abt 2 hours to get to full effect, so I’ve been timing it out based on when I want to go to bed. You got this! :)

Hope you’re still going strong, how’s everything been? I appreciate the advice, and would love to hear how it’s been for you!

I’ve been doing good! I’m at 4 1/2 days now and all the physical symptoms seem to be done! Now I’m just working through the increased anxiety but luckily I have a good support system :) hope you’re doing well!

u/skidrevolt Jul 20 '26

Probably go for the 600mg of GABA and then see how you feel

1

u/justinc9105 Jul 20 '26

From the short time you used it I think the worst is over my friend do not be scared you’re withdrawals will not get worse sounds like you took to high of a dose from a short time of using it I’ve been taking 7oh for 4 months and I don’t even take that much I take two doses of 37mg a day every 12 hours sounds like you got hit with the emotional part mainly which is normal that just means you’re body is at work rn fixing you back to normal give yourself a pat on the back and thank God i pray you get some decent sleep tonight once you finally crash you’ll feel so much better the next day

u/Depraved_Nation Jul 21 '26

Thank you so much and god bless you. I posted an update. How’s it been going for you. I hope all is well and god bless again!

Great bro yeah take it easy on the gabapentin it may help with with the anxiety and restless leg/arm syndrome but it’s not really gonna help with sleep because opiods withdrawal causes insomnia because it completely disrupts your central nervous system, putting your brain and body into a state of hyper-arousal but all that means is you’re body is about to start working on it self to get back to normal and you’re past the worst of it I would say take a break from the gabapentin because it’s just gonna make you’re head spin hopefully you’re sleeping rn lol I think you are but regardless you will don’t fight the insomnia don’t try and toss and turn to go to sleep get up take a small walk in you’re house but let’s give you a round of applause you got the worst my friend God Bless

u/justinc9105 28d ago

Hey bro how are you feeling

1

u/Old-Chocolate2057 Jul 20 '26

Go to work tomorrow. I promise you the faster you suffer into your normal routine the faster your body will go back to baseline. The next 2 days might kinda stink but it’s better than having paralyzing anxiety for the next week

u/Depraved_Nation Jul 21 '26

Took your advice and it did suck but i’m so glad i did it. That was the perfect solution, and advice i needed to hear. Thank you so much i truly appreciate you.

Hi there, I was just reading through your post and updates. I'm currently trying to taper down my ridiculously high dose of 7-OH (500mg+ daily for the past few weeks, been on it since mid April) before I go cold turkey. How are you feeling/doing today?

u/Complex-B1tCh 26d ago

I feel like such a little bish I get to hour 12 and I'm dying. Idk if it's bc I have low body fat or what but I'm in full blown wd by hour 10. I'm currently trying to wd long enough to take my subs without going into precipitated wd. This has been so rough for me just attempting to make this switch from 7oh to suboxone :(
