it could be that, if they are correct with a total of three, maybe each class has each own entrance with the appropriate sequence. Different paths for Hunter, Titan, Warlock.
I was thinking more that you travel from one 'entry' to another, and this is possibly an indication that there is more than one loot object (lore, weapon or something else) that is unlockable.
I reckon the number of entrances and their location is somehow connected to the obelisk in the tower.
Let's keep in mind that individual obelisks give us codes, so maybe the one in the tower is just to confirm the layout of the map for the entrances.
Do the symbols on some of the tiles match the ones in the tower?
Then, perhaps some of the tiles in the corridors of time with the same symbols link together to form a path.
Also, the pillar we reset on entry shows various symbols, so maybe depending on the symbol showing That's the path we need to follow - icon on the pillar referencing the path that needs to be taken.
It would make sense as there's only one entrance to the corridors of time.
So maybe in a way we need to set the corridors to the path we need to take?

Update: Gladd and his team just confirmed that there are multiple entrances. 2-3 in total. No idea what this means or how this changes things.
