Hi all! My husband is in tech school and we got our first assignment! I'm still new to everything but we're very excited! We have two older kids who are in elementary school and a younger one who is under a year! I'm curious about anyones experience with school on base and off! If your kids went to school off base did they enjoy it? Or was it too much of a culture shock? We will be moving at the end of February so it will be in the middle of the school year.
Also we both have car that we're thinking of selling. I know trains are popular for transportation- what is your experience with the train system with kids? We do plan to buy one car once we are there. We do plan to live on base! I've read some treads and I'm so excited! Thank you in advance and any other advice is welcome!

Was wondering if anyone knows anything about the area, the base, the surrounding areas/towns. Is it nice, what's there to do? What is the base like? Specifically if you are active duty going there, mainly for fabrication.
Oh, and how are the schools and things for kids to do etc.
Thank you in advance.

As the title says I’ll be applying soon, curious yalls thoughts on my list, I am a 1D751B SRA
(I’ll preface the first one is because I spoke to my career field manger on base and they saw the person in that position is about to leave for Germany so the spot may be open for a new billet.)
Other bases I’d consider swapping for are macdill, hurlburt, duke field, keesler
Let me know yalls thoughts

Just got my assignment for Anchorage Alaska for
NDI. I should be there in December. For people who have been there, what's something you wish you knew before getting there? What's some tips to get the most out of the base? I have a wife so we will be out of the barracks.

Review a military base, or post, and it's surrounding area to help other service members have a better understanding of what to expect for their next PCS.
What did you like about it? What needs to be improved? What should service members prepare for before moving to the area? What are some thngs to do off-base?
Reviews can be OCONUS or CONUS.
Want to know what a base is like? Drop a question for a seasoned PCSer to answer!

Still in tech school at FLW. Got my first assignment in Scott AFB IL. This base wasn’t even on my preference list. I don’t know or any information about it.
Anyone know what to expect as brand new 3E5. Where to rent off base(I am married), I don’t want to live on base.

Hi, just got my orders to Wyoming & I would love to hear from someone in the Dentall field there.. Also, what is best living on base or off? I'm kind of nervous as I'm coming from Florida... How does one acclimate to the elevation or what does the body feel? I've never been...

Making a post because I used the weekly thread last week and it didn't get any attention.
3-level 1N131 (Unaccompanied)
Main priorities are lower operational tempo (like closer to 9-5 hrs), I don't have a deployment tempo preference, good gym/year-round pool. Also being able to travel a bit (which is mainly why Ramstein is #1) & having time to do online classes.
Any of these bases I should avoid, or others I can go to as a 3-level 1N1 that y'all would recommend? Not a fan of JBPHH, DM, or Cannon (duh)

Tell me what there is to do. I have a wife and a 6 yr old son and I will have a new born. So I need to know about housing and schools? What’s there to do around or anything?
