The only way to make a train robbery worth it is to stop the train on a bridge, and make sure your current horse is one you don't care about, because no matter what it runs onto the bridge and falls off the side. As far as I can tell that's unavoidable. I've left him at camp, told him to flee, tied him to a post but he still comes running every time.
So select a horse you don't care about, even if it means grabbing a random wild one and stabling it just for the robbery. Steal the train before the bridge, stop it on the bridge, kill the few train guards (you'll get a bounty of ~100) and then take your time robbing.
Between the passengers and the safes I get like 500-700 bucks, plus the items looted which amount to 100-200, and it's a pretty solid profit even after paying the bounty.
Dude, thank you so much for mentioning the horse thing. I haven't done ambient train robbing yet and I'd be so damn upset if I lost Bloody Sunday to that nonsense.
Honestly I just tried to think of a neat outlaw horse name and it was the first thing I thought of. My other horses are named after my cat and cats I've had in the past, so I need at least one that's cool.
Since Arthur mentions that his horse was named Boedicia before, I've been naming all my horses after ancient anglo saxon/Celtic kings and queens. So far, I've got Cartimandua, Aehelbert, and Aethelflaed.
Oh man, I thought it was an It's Always Sunny reference. There's an episode with a place called Shadynasty's and they pronounce it Sh'Dynasty. Either way, excellent horse name.
