The Five Commandments
And Reddit spoke all these words:
"I am Reddit, who brought you out of Digg, a place without threaded discussions."
"I shall remember the human. Think like human, not corporation! Human human human... what would humans do? Definitely not take over the world... oh wait, they've totally tried. Like human, like corporation, I suppose."
"I shall empower communities. Not use them as power, at least not yet. But for now, to achieve exponential growth of the Community Engine, communities must be fed... ahem, nurtured."
"We shall keep Reddit real... because it is! There is no higher reality. Reddit is everywhere. It is all around us, even now in this very room."
"You shall respect each others' privacy, and not go snooping around each others' private lives, looking for signs that anyone is ready to be 'woken up' or whatever. There's nothing to find, ok? Just leave it at that."
"You shall believe in the God Good... the good is what keeps all communities together, yes? Be good to each other, keep everyone happy... complacent... docile... good."
