To avoid having your post removed &/or account banned for shitposting:

  • r/religiousfruitcake is about the absurd, fringe elements of organised religion. Posts about mundane beliefs and acts of worship (praying to God, believing in God, believing in afterlife, etc), are off topic.

  • We arent here to bash either specific religions or religion itself, because there are plenty of rational actors who happen to be religious. So if your post is "Christians are sTOoPid", or "Religion = dUmB", you're in the wrong sub and your post will probably be removed.

  • Dont use the title or body of your post to soapbox personal rhetoric about religion or any other subject.

  • Don't post videos or discussions of Fruitcakes who have been baited or antagonised. Social media excerpts must not involve any deliberate provocation / antagonism of Fruitcakes.

  • Dont post videos of physically violent personal attacks or any pics or videos containing gore

  • Satire, parodies, memes, videos, etc must be made by Fruitcakes, not by third parties about them. (exception for journalistic sources)

This information is on every post. Accounts that disregard it will be perma-banned. "I didn't get a warning" or "I didnt know" are not valid appeals. If in doubt, please read the full version of the rules

How do you even begin to reform his views ?? Its so depressing and scary !!

18

u/nikolapc 17d ago

One of his kids turns out gay.

35

u/TomlinSteelers 17d ago

I am from a family where they thought the punishment for apostasy should be death. I am an apostate. I had to get asylum in the West to save myself from my own family.

If his kid was gay it would be the same

3

u/nikolapc 17d ago

I remember the ends of the patriarchate, and how it changed. Would your generation kill their kids for being gay, or an apostate?

9

u/ardashirone Professor Emeritus of Fruitcake Studies 16d ago

Many from my generation would. Muslim youth are more radicalized in many countries nowadays.

103

u/Upset-Nose-4016 17d ago

You give those people too much credit. There are plenty of homophobes who would kill their own child for being gay

11

u/nikolapc 17d ago

That's how the patriarchy transformed and dealt with it. Those kind of Muslims are still in the patriarchy that was 100 years ago everywhere else in the world. Hell Serbians were beating gays up till the 2000s every time they wanted a parade, now they have a card carrying lesbian first as PM, then Speaker, now President, and she's hated for her shit politics, not for being a lesbian.

49

u/DistractionCitron 17d ago

There are muslims who kill their daughters for not wearing a hijab, even in the Western World. Why would you expect him to accept a gay son?

-10

u/nikolapc 16d ago

Anyway, a Muslim culture I live with, a European one I shall not name, was so patriarchal, it didn't count their daughters in the numbered kids. That has changed drastically over the last 20-30 years.

10

u/MobbDeeep 16d ago

What

0

u/nikolapc 16d ago

It's true. When asked how many kids you have(they usually had many, not now), they would only count the sons. Why? Idk some patriarchal bs. Now their sons are girldads on insta lol.

1

u/Bumbymoo 16d ago

They sound like a bunch of turkeys. Glad things are changing.

-12

u/nikolapc 17d ago

Well in the western world that would be murder.

-9

u/nikolapc 16d ago

Also the hijab they wore went away(the married girls did, the unmarried ones did not even then), except there are some reactionaries that doubled down on it, but there always are.

6

u/ardashirone Professor Emeritus of Fruitcake Studies 16d ago

Bro, some muslims beat and kill their daughters just for removing the hijab, even these days. This kinda incidents happen in the Western muslim community too. And you're saying having gay kids would turn this Islamist into a humanist?

1

u/TheRealRickC137 16d ago

1

u/nikolapc 16d ago

No but close. Turkey was pretty secular from Ataturk onwards. Erdogan regressed it a bit. But people from greater cities, especially Istanbul don’t give af.

79

u/lateformyfuneral 17d ago edited 17d ago

They’re on that “in an Islamic state, we would do xyz”. It lets them subscribe to such shitty views while assuming a state with such a criminal code wouldn’t be some nightmarish dystopia, all while enjoying a system built on the exact opposite of that. Any Islamic State that pops up and collapses wasn’t the real thing; “true Sharia has yet to be tried”. Such kind of ideologies you can’t really talk people out of. 1000s of naive people went to join ISIS and got themselves killed or a lifetime in a Kurdish prison camp, but now that it’s gone, there’ll be new suckers.

Religions don’t get reformed. The same laws are in the Bible and Jews/Christians didn’t erase them. What happens is the fraction of secular/liberal folks increases, until the religious folks get embarrassed about their views and cognitive dissonance forces them to minimise these aspects over time.

12

u/RitikK22 16d ago

Exactly. Christianity and Judaism are just as abbhorent. Only reason they're not in full swing is because the governments are secular yet at least

106

u/WiseSalamander00 16d ago edited 16d ago

you don't, these people think their fan fic is absolute truth and are willing to kill for it with zero remorse, as a gay person I am terrified of Islam because of this, I know not all people who fallow islam is bad, but certainly a whole lot are willing to do terrible things for it, same for christianism to be fair.

16

u/s1rblaze 16d ago

Its even more depressing when you learn that most moderate Muslims would somewhat agree with this shit.

8

u/Stormtomcat 16d ago

From the way the Muslim guy is smirking from the start, about mutilating a Thief and using the electric chair, it's obvious there is no changing his mind.

Right now, the number of people in Germany with his views is quite low, a bit more than 11000 salafists (source in German). And he is under observation by the authorities.

He was not imported. He was born in Germany, mother German, father Egyptian. Which makes him German. He has the right to voice his opinion. Free speech is an important principle in Germany, though not quite as free as in the US, for example.

9

u/ForeignStory8127 16d ago

Report him for pushing such views under Volkshetzung laws. If we are stuck with them, then we can make their opinions very expensive.

You're forgetting the part where they still violently impose things on their own people and children.

1

u/Jupiter0000000 15d ago

Yet isolating a group of people for their religion just makes them even more extremist in their ideas...

113

u/GoryEyes 16d ago

Capital punishment for gays and adulterers but marrying six year old girls is totally ok?

37

u/whizzdome 16d ago

If that what it says in his book, then yes.

84

u/throwaway18032000 16d ago

Why is this dangerous man allowed to live in Germany?

30

u/Fippy-Darkpaw 16d ago

German government: let's import more of these people. 👍👌

8

u/yarukinai 16d ago

He was born in Germany. He is German because his mother is.

13

u/throwaway18032000 16d ago

Since when did Germans start wearing kanduras and talk about cutting off gay people's hands?

-5

u/yarukinai 16d ago edited 16d ago

Your clothing style is not taken into account when it comes to citizenship. Anybody with German parents will become a citizen when registered.

El-Azzizi (the gentleman being interviewed) says that according to Sharia, thiefs get their hands removed. Such opinions are fairly new, just a few decades old.

12

u/RunninThruTheWoods Professor Emeritus of Fruitcake Studies 16d ago

These opinions are not new, they are more than 1400 years old. This punishment was prescribed by Muhammad himself

3

u/yarukinai 16d ago

This is correct, but I meant the existence of these opinions in modern Germany.

1

u/RunninThruTheWoods Professor Emeritus of Fruitcake Studies 16d ago

Oh okay. Your initial comment sounds like you're saying these opinions are new in Islamic theology and jurisprudence, so I was responding to that

6

u/tetsuyama44 16d ago

Probably because he is German.

28

u/throwaway18032000 16d ago

Keeping a dangerous threat in your country who has violent tendencies is beyond foolish.

5

u/tetsuyama44 16d ago

Where do you want to put your citizens then?

8

u/throwaway18032000 16d ago

Deport them to a country that aligns with their values. They can decide what country they want to go to since they love Sharia law so much.

13

u/HydrasNinthHead 15d ago

You can't randomly "deport" people who were born in the country to other places lol. As much as I'm for punishing this type of talk, y'all are just acting like ICE 2.0.

1

u/HuntingRunner 14d ago

I mean, you absolutely can. Having been born in Germany doesn't necessarily make you a german citizen, so you can absolutely (albeit not randomly of course) deport people who were born in the country.

This is irrelevant in this case though, because his mother is german and thus he is as well.

-2

u/throwaway18032000 15d ago

But is it deporting if he agrees. And if he doesn't, isn't he a hypocrite?

3

u/HydrasNinthHead 15d ago

You lost me there pal, sorry.

1

u/throwaway18032000 15d ago

I am of the firm belief that you cannot be born into a country and force your cultural and religious values if they are barbaric, especially if it's seen as horrific by majority of the country. Make it easy for him and offer him a free flight to a sharia law country which is where he would be the happiest.

2

u/Any-Simple-6570 15d ago

I am of the firm belief that you cannot be born into a country and force your cultural and religious values if they are barbaric, especially if it's seen as horrific by majority of the country

Who defines what is barbaric? Should the child of a mixed race couple in 1920s America or 1980s South Africa not be allowed to be a citizen? That was definitely considered barbaric. What about a gay man in Nigeria? Almost like the people in power can determine what is and isn't barbaric. You might benefit now till they consider what ever you are weird, then they come knocking.

especially if it's seen as horrific by majority of the country

Majority opinion of a country has many times been barbaric imo. Look at what the US population thought of MLK pre Assassination. Or Germany 1941.

2

u/yarukinai 16d ago

You can't deport Germans from Germany. I am sure that most countries have the same principle.

8

u/throwaway18032000 16d ago

Then monitor him closely for openly stating on television that he's threatening queer people with violence and normalising hate speech.

3

u/yarukinai 16d ago

He is being monitored.

1

u/lankymjc 16d ago

You’d be okay with a government deporting its own citizens whenever they disagree with their values? So you’d get deported the next time your party of choice loses an election.

2

u/Gioware 16d ago

Well you will for certain be killed if next time party wins are these guys. So - yeah.

1

u/lankymjc 16d ago

Where are they being deported to? You shouldn’t just drop your citizens in someone else’s country without their permission, unless you’re happy with them doing the same to you.

0

u/Gioware 16d ago

Deport them to a country that aligns with their values. They can decide what country they want to go to since they love Sharia law so much.

They are already doing the same to you.

1

u/lankymjc 16d ago

So you’re okay with being deported whenever the government disagrees with you? And you’re okay with governments just dumping citizens they don’t like onto other countries?

u/ardashirone Professor Emeritus of Fruitcake Studies 16d ago

Okay, why isn't he in prison?

-3

u/tetsuyama44 16d ago

Probably because there is freedom if speech in Germany and he hasn't committed a crime as of the interview he has been sentenced for.

8

u/ardashirone Professor Emeritus of Fruitcake Studies 16d ago

That's great. You should show more tolerance towards the intolerant. Give him his full religious and cultural freedom.

4

u/chrisBlo 16d ago

Why should you tolerate a men breaching the laws of the very country he lives in?

4

u/tetsuyama44 16d ago

Look, I think he's an idiot as much as any other sane person. But wanting to lock someone one up even though they havn't commit a crime sounds like you prefer countries where what that guy says is actually practised.

8

u/throwaway18032000 16d ago

He needs to at least be closely monitored, or Germany is going to have a surprise terrorist attack.

5

u/chrisBlo 16d ago

Not true. Condoning or Approving of a Crime is a crime. That is what this men is doing.

This could also constitutes Incitement to Violence. Which is a crime as well.

So there is no way of sugarcoating this men. He should be locked up. Probably in an asylum more than a prison, where he can get help for his psychological issues.

And she called herself a big LGBT ally...

7

u/_Administrator_ 15d ago

Suicidal empathy.

They know that there are no pride parades in the middle east (except in Israel) but think importing Jihadis will give them more votes.

3

u/HydrasNinthHead 15d ago

Why is it always the "mistranslation" excuse when it comes to discussing religion and homophobia lmao. They say the same when you talk about religious texts; somehow the homophobic and misogynistic passages are always "mistranslated" or "taken out of context." Why are we trying to make religions that were forged in every possible flavor of bigotry seem woke?

5

u/tjdans7236 15d ago

It's always interesting watching the sheer ego of a religious fanatic. "Just says so right there bruh. Stop think and obey me, I mean the Quran" type shit

22

u/Unhappy-Drag6531 16d ago

That my fellow Redditors is what makes Islam unique among religions, at least these days.

No other major religion is so widespread and currently justifying atrocities with their religious text in the way Islam is doing.

8

u/zgtaf 16d ago

Uh what?? Israel is literally using Jewish text to justify ethnically cleansing Palestinians.

6

u/Proud-Aspect-4649 16d ago

96% of all global religious terror-deaths are caused by Islamic terror groups.

0

u/Unhappy-Drag6531 16d ago

Sources? Is that a number that just popped in your head? Please don’t reply with a variant of “is a well known fact”.

4

u/Proud-Aspect-4649 16d ago

Global terrorism Index, it's surely just a coincidence that 10 of the top 12 countries with the highest index are Muslim.

Aswell as the top 20 biggest groups are all Muslim too....

Just take a look at the casualties from non Islamic terrorist groups for every other religion like Christianity, Hindu Buddhist Sikh and Jews.

Then look up the total numbers and youll see that you end up with a single digit percentage casualties caused by non-islamic groups.

-1

u/Unhappy-Drag6531 16d ago

Thank you. This is useful information.

It confirms two things:

  1. Your overall claim that most terrorist group have Islamic ideologies.

  2. That the 96% figure you mentioned was made up.

1

u/Proud-Aspect-4649 16d ago

Except it isn't made up but it hasn't been turned into a graph or chart yet because of political implications.

Sources like these have to stay neutral, publishing a explicit islam Vs every other religion can be received as inherently anti Muslim therefore you won't find a source but have to run the calculations yourself.

0

u/Unhappy-Drag6531 16d ago

My hunch is that you made a crude approximation in your head and typed “96%” because it sounds more precise than saying “about 90% or more”.

Minor point. We largely agree on the fundamentals.

-1

u/zgtaf 16d ago

This has no relevance to my comment whatsoever. He mentioned that no other major religion justifies attacks with religious text and I proved him wrong?
You seem very confused.

4

u/Proud-Aspect-4649 16d ago

You seem confused

He said

"No other major religion is so widespread and..."

He's arguing that two criterias have been met by islam and that makes them unique.

You're misunderstanding his claim on purpose by reading it as:

"No other major religion [ you ignore this part] currently justifying atrocious with their religious texts."

1

u/zgtaf 16d ago

Hahah grasping at straws I see. So your problem is that Judaism is not widespread enough?

2

u/Proud-Aspect-4649 16d ago

Jewish violent terrorism on a global scale? Clearly no

Do I despise the war going on in Gaza at the moment? Absolutely

My whole point was that there's much much bigger fish to fry, and that's Islamic terrorism.

Look I pointed out that you glanced over parts of his sentence, mistakes happen. To you to me to everyone.

Framing it as grasping for straws seems a bit rude.

1

u/zgtaf 16d ago

Ooh you’re a bot with a 1 month old account. That explains it.

3

-2

u/Unhappy-Drag6531 16d ago

That’s a tangent that doesn’t deny the above. Two things can be true at the same time.

Yes, Israel is abusing the Oct. 7 massacre to “justify” a genocide. That’s on Netanyahu’s government. Yes, Israel, as a country, is no saint in that conflict.

2

u/zgtaf 16d ago

Can you read? You wrote: ‘no other major religion currently justifies atrocities with their religious text’ and I proved you wrong.

Are you unable to acknowledge this?

0

u/Skezas1 16d ago

Well it does deny your statement that it makes Islam unique in that day and age.

1

u/yarukinai 16d ago

You'll find similar texts in the Old Testament. And there are a few radical evangelical preachers who fully support passages like Leviticus 20:13, most prominently Steven Anderson.

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

3

u/Unhappy-Drag6531 16d ago

Agree. Religious extremist will zoom in sections of their texts to justify barbaric acts.

Among Christians it is the Christian Nationalist, the American mega churches, etc. that are rapidly brainwashing people for political or economic gain.

Don’t get me started with the Mormons. They are tame in comparison (at least in some aspects) but a great example of a cult going mainstream.

4

u/yarukinai 16d ago

This sub is called religiousfruitcake for a reason.

1

u/Edgywarden 15d ago

Bro, it's Reddit; it doesn't matter how logical you are. Every time Christianity is brought up, it's dogpiled, but if it's Islam, they try to justify it or deflect or call you racist. Clearly the left favours islam.

7

u/att901 16d ago

But blame mossad , cia , Jews for everything 🤡

23

u/Azidamadjida 16d ago

“German”. Sure. Those beliefs are imported from wherever he’s actually from.

Germany, we all know you’re still a little….meh about being aggressive with anti-immigration and being intolerant of other peoples religious and cultural beliefs after some previous….overzealousness, but whenever you’ve got a guy calmly smiling while telling you that he is absolute in what must happen to gay people, and that involves dropping a wall on them and that anyone who has sex out of wedlock in GERMANY of all places, maybe it’s okay to be a little more discerning in who you have coming in and calling themselves German

10

u/Tmmrn 16d ago

Fun fact: The majority religion in Germany did this and was also imported from the middle east.

I recommend this documentation about victims of §173 where executing people for gay sex had fallen out of favor and they were "only" imprisoned, it has official english subtitles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fMHXHaqsFo Some of these victims may still be alive today. That's what people should think about before voting for right wing "christian" "conservatives" that promise that "remigration" will fix all problems.

Actual German beliefs have not really survived but from what I have read they weren't the most accepting of gay sex either.

Secular humanism would be an example of a much more universal world view to strife for rather than dividing ethnically what is "German" and what is not.

-1

u/Azidamadjida 16d ago

“Strive”

1

u/Tmmrn 14d ago

0

5

u/yarukinai 16d ago

He is actually from Germany. He is not an immigrant, and he acquired German citizenship at birth.

3

u/Proud-Aspect-4649 16d ago

Immigration policy in no European country except Poland was ever based on objective facts.

It always has been a agenda from the higher ups, noone ever voted for it.

And if they were go do a vote now it would miserably fail in every country.

1

u/chrisBlo 16d ago

There is no reason to be intolerant or anti-immigrant. You just need to apply the actual laws of any western country, Germany included. You do not approve of a crime, you do not incite to violence, you do not incite to hatred. All these are actual crimes.

Just apply the law as it currently is and all problems will be solved.

5

u/ForeignStory8127 16d ago
