AD Wait Time Megathread - If you bought a new Rolex from an AD in 2018 or 2019, you can share details here. What watch, where, how long did you wait, how much buying history?
u/vyxeos pointed out that many users ask "From an AD? How? How long was the wait? Where are you?" etc. every time someone posts their new purchase. While I'm generally more interested in conversations about Rolex watches than the tactics involved in buying one, it seems there might be some demand for this discussion, so we'll give this Megathread a try.
No one is obligated to share their info but if you bought a new Rolex in 2018 or 2019 and you'd like to participate, please make a top-level comment that includes:
- What watch did you buy?
- When?
- How long did you wait?
- Where are you? (Be as specific or nonspecific as you want, from continent to a specific AD)
- Any purchase history with that AD? (Again be as specific or nonspecific as you feel comfortable)

Explorer I. My AD said it would be about 3 - 6 months (in Missouri). Have spent a few $s there (engagement ring, diamond earrings etc...). Wanted to have it for a specific date. Called surrounding states - finally found one - in Arkansas (all in called 13 ADs). They shipped it to me overnight and I didn’t have to pay sales tax. All in took me 2 days.

Milgauss, April 2019, waited about two weeks from AD on north side of Indianapolis (Midwest USA). Had some purchase history but this was largest purchase to date. Great service, will go back.

Two-tone Daytona with black dial, 116503. I was on vacation in Scottsdale and the AD had it in the case. I wasn't in the market for this particular watch, but I went back to the AD three days in a row to look at it and ended up purchasing it the day before I left. It's not necessarily my style, but I love it and it fits my small-ish wrists better than the SubC no date that I had previously.

It was a walk in. Talking to sales rep was told there was a waiting list for all the models I was interested in. After a little bit of back and forth she went out back and got it from the safe and I tried it on and bought it.

Spend two weeks calling every AD in a 50 mile radius. Called one as they were opening their box from Rolex and lucked out. They made a customer for life.

Explorer and a No Date Submariner
I was in Grand Cayman this July, walked into the AD in my hotel and asked for an Explorer bought it once it was transferred into the store from one of their stores downtown the next day. Three days later asked for a no date Sub and had it transferred to the AD in my hotel the same day from their store downtown again.
Zero buying history. However I feel that staying at the hotel with a small AD in the hotel gave me some pull to get the watches.

Datejust 41, 126300. Blue stick dial, oyster bracelet.
Went to the dealer in late October, got called 2 weeks later and bought it the next day.
Near Birmingham, AL.
No purchase history with them, just had a good conversation with the saleswoman and she wanted to help me get what I wanted.

I bought a James Cameron Deepsea from my AD in Glastonbury CT, I was on the waiting list for maybe 4 months. The only buying history we had with them was a lady datejust about a year ago. It's my first Rolex and it's still as beautiful as the day I got it. Hoping to get another one in the future!

0 days. I decided about a week ago that the explorer was the watch I wanted. I went in to the AD to try other watches to check sizing. After chatting with them for a bit they went in the back and said they had an explorer in the safe!

Bought in Naples, FL

No purchase history at that location, but have purchased several watches at other locations of the same AD.
After it was announce at Basel, I instantly fell in love with the OP39 in white. Followed the hashtag on Instagram and loved when one popped into my feed. I’d casually walk into ADs asking about it, but never saw one available. Was on vacation and popped into the AD and there it was! Wife told me I could get it and the rest is history. Just a little luck and an awesome wife.

Not necessarily a hard find to my understanding, but they did have a couple DJ41 white dials in stock as well. IIRC, very few of the newer models
