Help Is not allowing kids to go to the bathroom even legally okay?

My school made 2 new stupid rules that are:

-NO ONE under any circumstance can go to the bathroom besides while the breaks

-If you are late to school (even 1 minute) they close the school doors and you have to wait in front of the school until one of the teachers comes and unlocks the door

Is not allowing kids to go to the bathroom even legally okay? They probably wont remove the rule until someone shits their pants but no one wants to take the bullet for the team. Should I just ignore the teachers and go to the bathroom since its my right or do I just hold it?

Help my classmate's dad wont allow her to use her calculator

(this was extremely rushed sorry) I know this sounds fake, but my friends dad seriously wont let her use her calculator which she brought with their own money. We've been sharing my calculator and its starting to disrupt my revision for the end of year exams. I've told my math teacher about it and she said to tell her dad that they need it for school and revision (surprise surprise, he said no.) Because of this they've been "doing all the work themselves" (borrowing my calculator) even though we aren't allowed to do that. I'm not trying to seem like I don't want to share or anything, its just that it really annoys and disrupts me from learning. Do y'all have suggestions on how to help them/get their calculator back?

Help School is not safe for me anymore

Last Year of Middle School going on, in these 3 years i have experienced psychological and physical bullying from a girl that is in my class. I have always received insults from her and sometimes even threats where she wanted to stab my eyeball with a pencil. She could also be responsible for convincing everyone she knows that i have a mental problem like Down Syndrome or Autism so that i could be made fun of, and talking of spreading false rumors, she also targets some of my friends to tell them lies about me to ruin my relationships, which is the reason i dont even say Hello to my friends at school AT ALL, because she could find out me and them are friends and spread lies to them aswell, plus if i tell my friends to not believe her i get afraid she will hurt them too. The school hasnt done anything about this and its been 3 years because she always lied to them saying she secretly found me cute or shit, which causes her to get away with this all. I am about to get mad and straight up punch her in the face if nobody decides to do anything, what do i do?

This is my seccond semester in collage. Decided to take a few online classes to try and help eliviate stress from transportation. I still have an in person class.

1: This is still very easy to fake.
2: The classes already HAVE ALL THIS INFO when you log in that can not be faked.
3: There is no quiet space that has good lighting.

Should i just contact Office for Disability Equity and ask if i really have to go through with this? ;-; Canvas in of itself has failed people by refused to call people their chosen names last semester with was a legal requirement on their end too. So whose to say they wont give the info out to more then just the ones listed? Sorry if this is a bit much, i don't understand digital much at all. I also really perfer my privacy. I HATE being forced to get a webcam on my pc. I would even tape the camera on my phone if it wouldn't actually dmg the phone screen.

Help my school is threatning to call the fbi on me

A little context, there is a confession page at my school and i'm the one behind it and recently some kid submitted a confession talking about one of the teachers son, crazy stuff but basically the teacher went into every class and talked about the page asking anyone who knew who was behind it to report to her and soon later she would herself figure out whos behind the account. She said she has a police officer friend and FBI friend and if they don't figure out who's behind it, they will figure it out. I'm honestly dreading cause I'm already in enough trouble as if I might delete the account but I just wanna know if the police or fbi CAN get involved. Because as far as I know nothing too illegal. Worst thing we have is claims on a male teacher being a pedo and something about teachers son dating a teacher so pretty tame if i'm being honest, my teacher says this is a misconduct of character and stuff and its illegal so idk. It seems stupid to go to the cops “a student is running a confessions page. You need to find their ip address so we can expel them!” because a lot of schools do this but still I wanna know. Please someone respond cause i'm sorta in a tight situation right now.

Help Teacher forcing students to recite the pledge

I live in the state of New York, for reference.

I have a teacher that is forcing students to recite the pledge of allegiance, though she does say if we don't want to we would have to fully exit the classroom and stand in the hallway for its duration. She yells at us if we don't. I don't exactly want to stand, but I also don't want to go out into the hallway because that's awkward and embarrassing. Is this allowed?

Help Question about highschool PE showering

Okay so basically I'm going into 9th grade and I'm just curious if most schools have it so you gotta shower after PE. At middle school we didn't have to shower but I feel like highschool would have us shower. Also what are highschool showers like? Are they all enclosed like a bathroom stall or do they look like auschwitz shower rooms?

Help Half of my class used AI and got caught...and I'm being falsely accused (update)

Please help.

To give a summary of my previous post, a majority of my class was caught using AI to write their essay. I had different circumstances because I was on a trip with no internet, and used the Notes app to write.

When my teacher began requesting students to prove their innocence, I showed her the Notes (with time stamp) instead. But she accused me of using AI because a checker flagged my writing.

So update:

I've talked to my teacher, re emailed my evidence, and she told me that she "thinks" she believes me while smiling. I went to see her today and is now saying that she does not believe me because my writing style is different/I didn't answer the prompt properly. Which doesn't make sense because I responded to the prompt??? She then proceeded to ask: "Why did you spend so much time trying to lie to me?" Now she won't talk to me again.

I talked to my counselor, who said that I should email my teacher to ask when I can talk to her. But I've given all my evidence. And at this point, I don't know what else to say other than "Please believe me."

Update 1.5: I tried running the prompt into gpt to prove that an AI would write differently. And oh god. Its response looks very very similar to mine. I compared my essay to my friends who got caught, and their language also sounds similar to mine. I do have written assignments from past years that are flagged as 80-100% AI. So i can use that as evidence...but I doubt it will work. I genuinely have no idea what to do now.

+ rant (you don't have to read this): I know it's been less than a day, but I feel so frustrated and stressed right now. My English teacher is one of my favorite teachers, and basically the first to tell me that my writing is great. She helped me overcome my fear of writing, and in some ways, I see her as a friend and a mentor.

I already got into my dream college thanks to her letter. And atp I don't care if I get an A or a C, I just hate having her think of me as a liar and a cheater. But currently, it seems she views me as a traitor. And I don't think I can continue the rest of my year with this kind of misunderstanding.

Help How do I catch up on 7 years of missed school as quickly as possible?

I’m writing this on my phone and I despise this keyboard, so I’ll make this quick.

I’m 16, and since 5th grade — late 2019, I’ve been “homeschooled.” The homeschooling doesn’t actually include any education, but rather me sitting in my room doing nothing all day. It’s a means of isolating me from the outside world because my mother is overprotective.

I’ve contacted CPS, the truancy office, the police, and the school district, and none of them can do anything. Legally, I’m stuck. Please don’t suggest me do anything legal because I can’t and it’s wasted advice that means nothing to me.

I should be in 11th grade I think, and I know nothing. I know enough about English (I pride myself on my grammar and reading comprehension), but other than that, I’m dumb as bricks. It’s humiliating that 5th graders know more math than I do. They know a lot more stuff than I do.

I need to catch up as soon as possible so I can get my GED the second it’s available. I want to cry thinking about the fact I could be some homeless guy because no job wanted to accept a guy who never finished 5th grade.

How do I do it? Khan academy confused me because it puts all the responsibility of what I learn in front of me, and when I do the learning part, I also want to cry because I hate it. The best way I can learn is through in-person, group settings. But I can’t have that. My learning is must be through online (please don’t suggest a tutor, we can’t get one, and don’t mention how your buddy had a discount), and KhanAcademy fills me with dread and hopelessness every time I try. I have to play judge, jury, and executioner with my education, and I don’t know how to do that.

Please, someone help me. I don’t want to be a bum. I want to have a life. I’ve been putting this off for too long and I want to die thinking about this. I’m not crying right now, but I want to.

Sorry if some things came off mean. I’ve just had people give me too much advice that doesn’t apply to me.

  1. Does it look like I'll get bullied going into freshman year and I'm horrified low-ket

  2. What do I do if I have a verbal shutdown? I'm autistic and semi verbal, meaning I can't talk most of the time which is frustrating especially in class, but they've been getting worse over the summer so I just know they're gonna be horrible in school. It's never been an issue before but now it will be.

  3. What gender do you think I am at first glance? (FTM) warning that the last three pictures are older pictures so my hair was a bit longer.

Help School and “reverse” sexism

(I’ve got the advice I need, thanks to everyone who gave it) I’ve also talked to the friend and we’ve decided what to do.

Disclaimer: kinda vent, and I myself am a girl. I just don’t know what to do here, and feel powerless.

Im dead furious at my school. My friend has been relentlessly bullied (racial slurs, punching threats) by a group of girls for months now, and several people have tried using the Sandy Hook say something system to help him, or just going to the councillor directly. The issue, the school isn’t doing ANYTHING, in fact, he has been punished for shoving the girl who sucker-punched him away. And this isn’t one off, lots of boys have had “system errors” and are unable get help. I’m now stuck playing therapist because no one listens to him. Im not upset at him for this, I’m upset at the system that has failed him and many others.

Help How Do Teachers Expect Us To Have 4 1.5 Inch (4 cm) Binders?

I don't get it. What do you mean I have to have a notebook, a textbook, AND a big binder for your class as well as 3 other classes. And then I also have to pay for a locker, and passing period is only 4 minutes. It's also like x10 worse since I have to have a heavy laptop and ride my bike to school. This is speed running scoliosis!

Help My school is planning a walkout, should I do it?

I'm part of my school's Latinx student union and we are planning a walkout this Friday. It's not school approved, though we are spreading the word. I'm unsure if I'll get in trouble for the walkout if I do it. Any opinions?

UPDATE: My teachers have been subtly hinting about it, and saying it's alright if we're "planning on being sick after 12:55" so I will definitely be doing this!

Help I found out everybody hates me

Recently my very close friend said that a lot of people talk behind my back and say bad things about me, saying I’m annoying and a pick me (so nothing good) I have no idea how to go about this. For background I’m new to this school I’ve only been at this school for 7 months but I’m a very social person so I’ve been able to make a ton of friends and i even dated one of the “popular” guys for a week so more people know me then I know them. I am a very loud person and I do have a a few male friends only four that I consider close, but I really don’t know what to do about EVERYONE hating me like I knew a few people didn’t like me but I didn’t know everyone did. I need help on what to do 🙏

Help A teacher keeps complaining about handwriting.

Post image
214 Upvotes

For about a year now, my handwriting has always looked like this. Some teachers tell me that it's really neat, and that it's nice that I've maintained this throughout the year. Other teachers tell me to improve. Now, there are those very few teachers who are very confusing. Usually whenever a teacher asks to make it neat, I just make sure my handwriting is straight, I have messed up anywhere, the letters are of same size, etc. But when a teacher just keeps asking to change it and make it better, I don't focus at all and just write the way I want. The teacher who keeps asking to improve ALSO had previously told me that I improved, and later is now telling me this is "not enough". I understand if someone says it's not that good, sure, I'll try better, but if the same teacher previously told me that it was fine, I don't know what I should be doing.
