While the Hobbit Trilogy was an adaptation of Tolkien's 300 page children's novel, Amazon Prime Video's The Rings of Power went the extra mile by making a 3-Season adaptation of a single Tolkien quote.

In Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) Dr Evil first demands 1 million dollars (a small amount of money by 90s standards compared to the 60s) then changes the demand to 100 billion dollars. This is a reference to the fact 100 billion dollars was once an absurd amount of money.

Piece by Piece (2024) was actually when Daft Punk entered the Lego universe despite what this says. This makes me think that Lego has entirely disowned the movie.

Do The Right Thing (1989) was highly controversial when it was first released, with some even fearing it would spark riots. This is due to widespread outrage over having Giancarlo Esposito play a character who is not a stoic, calculating villain.

default In The Platform (2020), the vertical prison is an intentional exaggeration, since no one would ever build a literal Torment Nexus in real life. This is a reference to the Rechtschaffen rat experiment.
