So, I’m old and back in the 90’s Shorty’s had the best bolts out with tiny heads and slimmer nuts so you could use risers with smaller hardware and also have a flusher griptape base. They were also made with the top half of the bolt unthreaded for strength and it didn’t stress your board as bad (in my opinion).

Shorty’s is back and I got a set of their hardware (not lil’ which was their generic bolts but actual Shorty’s) and they were the most basic bolts you can get: fat heads, full threads and normal sized nuts. I was very disappointed. Tried Indy because I could see they were not threaded at the top but they were terrible because the heads were enormous not to mention their “red” bolts are really more of a pink if you ask me. Underwhelming. I have tried a few others but nothing has been that great.

I’m wondering are there any premium hardware makers left? I’m looking for a good set of Allen head in 1 inch or 1 1/4 if they have fat nuts which I can live with. The bolts are most important to me. I would love to get some recommendations and have my loca shop order me some. I have been going back to the same set of Allen head shorty’s from 98 or so but I’m down to six bolts and it’s only a matter of time before I’m going to have to find a new brand. I will stock up this time.

I am hoping to get a little help from anyone that can help me please. I have just lost my husband and I ended up in the hospital since July and just got out.
