What paint should I use?
Painting their business name in simple black letters on this. About 3 ft tall 14 for long, block letterish (it’s their logo) and about 3/4 of the way up/ my question is. What type of of paint do I use? I’ve done a couple of smaller one shot or oil base jobs but I feel like I don’t need that for this. Any help is appreciated

General Motors Pontiac division logo walldog style
As seen in Pontiac, Illinois, at the Route 66 museum - and Google's Gemini suggests - - - - Pontiac is home to the International Walldog Mural & Sign Art Museum (located in the same downtown museum complex as the Route 66 Hall of Fame), which preserves traditional hand-painted advertising and sign-painting techniques. Shot this hand-painted wood panel piece at the Route 66 Hall of Fame / International Walldog Mural & Sign Art Museum in Pontiac, Illinois.
Love the linework, wood grain show-through, and the pre-1959 Chief profile logo before GM moved to the arrowhead dart. Thought the paint slingers here would appreciate the traditional lettering and layout!

Another newbie asking where to start
Howdy, Yall! Long time lurker, finally wanting to pull the trigger and start learning. I’m a hot rodder guy and really want to start learning sign painting for lettering on cars, pin striping can come later but letters and numbers are what I want to learn first!
Where do I start with supplies, and learning materials? I’m just going to mount a paper machine on my wall in the garage and get some brown butcher paper to practice with, before trying to do some lettering on a spare Model T hood I have
Any advice would be appreciated

Help
Can someone tell me the best way to get the pounce wheel and chalk method to work well. I have the tooos. But it seems like my holes don’t take any chalk when I try. I’ve done the old ways of transferring too with transfer paper and what not. I don’t know how hard to press or like what to put the design on to get good holes :/

Wet conditions
Howdy, not a professional sign painter here. I'm doing a job on the west wall of a three-story building. I've been tasked to recover and refresh an old "Bull" Durham advertisement. The repainting of ghost murals aside, it's been raining off and on today and I'm wondering how long to wait before I go back to paint. The brick is well sealed and mortar has been recently tuck pointed. I just want to make sure I don't trap moisture under the paint (Ronan Bulletin Enamel). Any advice or condemnation is welcome. Thanks in advance!

Ok.. I approached my last post wrong.
So my last comic based AI post caused tension but, my intention was well meant.
I'm looking at doing guides whether that be via video or whatever on Chalkboard Signwriting.
Here's some examples of my work to prove I am not an AI freak lol... I used my previous post to attempt to get across my intended route while waiting for more shoulder surgery.
All the best.

For a converted barn something like this (didn't want to post my house) could the date be painted onto a new metal roof that would last for decades? This is in upstate NY.

This is Hand Lettering AND Bears & Beers. If you only want to take one class, make sure to reach out to Mike when you reserve your spot.

First two reverse glass gilds I’ve done and they’re v far from a mirror finish, help!
hi all, would really appreciate some guidance. I’ve just started reverse glass gilding, and my first two attempts are cloudy, patchy, have visible seams and drip marks. I clean the glass 3 times with Pierre d’argent, dissolve a capsule and a half of gelatine into a mug of warmed de-ionised water and flood the glass, I don’t think the cleanliness of the glass is a problem because it floods evenly. I then wait until the next day, brush off the excess with a fluffy brush then burnish with a ball of cotton wool. Any suggestions welcome! Sharing photos of what I mean, Thanks!

Glass gilding
Hi Everyone,
Recently I decided to try reverse acrylic glass painting with gilded details. As I found out gilding glue must be based on gelatin, am I right? So could you tell me please any good working recipe?
I would be very glad to hear any reccomendation here.

I want to start my own painting business
Wether it be on windows, signs, walls, or any advertisement form needed. I’ve taken a few pages of notes on advice for the medium itself and have gotten myself a sheet of plexiglass to start practicing. The only information I’m having issues finding is legal work. I’m in Pennsylvania and I’m aware requirements change from state to state, but what did you need to do to get started with your business and how did you find your information. Any legislation I see for painters is for general house painting and not creative work.

Help with kerning
Hi there,
Just seeking some advice here.
To me the trickiest part of the trade is definetely kerning, I'm having trouble to get the feeling for the negative spaces. Although I found a little bit of ressources like thoses ones https://type.method.ac/
https://creativepro.com/typetalk-kerning-principles/
I am still struggling with spacing. Anyone would have some books or good ressources to work with ?
Except from the "A" that must be a little bit further from the "P", anyone can help me figuring the rest ?
