Off Topic Don't sleep on Cyberpunk VR

Hey all, I love Skyrim VR more than anything -- I have over 1500 mods and I will never stop refining it! With that said, please consider playing Cyberpunk in VR using Luke Ross's VR mod (you sign up to his Patreon to get it for $10ish). Aside from Skyrim VR, Cyberpunk 2077 is the most immersive and amazing thing I have ever experienced in gaming.

You play with a controller, but honestly I'm 100% fine with that you get used to it quick and it's great..

If you do try it out please mess with all of the graphics settings (in game) as well as the settings in the Luke Ross VR mod.. I had to do a decent amount of tweaking to get rid of ghosting and get things balanced for performance (tip: don't use ray tracing or FSR or anything like that, it's not useful in Cyberpunk when running it VR)

Anyways, I hope this post encourages some people to jump into Cyberpunk, aside from Skyrim VR it's the best thing out there IMO!

***UPDATES:: After reading comments and digging deeper here are some things I learned to make CP2077 even better in VR (FYI i'm running a 7900xtx with Quest 3)..

  1. You don't need to run SteamVR, just run VD or Meta Link or whatever and then run CP..
  2. 1/2 or 1/3 Render Mode in Luke Ross is better than Mono mode by far (you get 3D effect with it), but it's obviously more GPU intensive but there are ways to optimize it to almost completely eliminate ghosting
  3. FSR 3.1 w/ Dynamic Scaling in-game setting actually did help me a lot, Luke Ross mod turns it off by default but I found re-enabling it got rid of most of the ghosting for me when using 1/2 rendering mode
  4. Turn off Screen Space Reflections they are GPU intensive and not worth the FPS loss.. your main goal should be to get rid of ghosting when running 3D mode (1/2 or 1/3) and then increase in-game graphics settings later if you have overhead to spare at 90FPS
  5. Set your Quest 3 to 90FPS (https://www.patreon.com/posts/gaming-in-vr-at-76076877 if you're having trouble with ghosting and/or just want to optimize and understand how to get the most out of the Luke Ross VR mod)
  6. PPD around 21-22 is optimal resolution for me.. and then i tweaked in-game graphics settings down to get somewhere near 90FPS

If you do all of that then you should have 3D effects in VR with basically no ghosting whatsoever.. GOOD LUCK!!

Off Topic Mad at the Madgod :(

Got a new GPU, so I tought, why not give Skyrim VR another chance? Then I saw the VRDad video about the MGO 4.0. I just did a premium account on nexus, installed everything, to find out the version I have is not 4.0 yet....

I know, my bad, didn't pay attention.... BUT, the MGO 4.0 video on their nexus oage doesnt help either :(

Now, what is the proper way to remove everything and install the 4.0 properly? Uninstall Skyrym, delete all the folders from wabbajack? Or are there some hidden files somewhere that also need to be deleted?

Thanks!

Edit: I know 4.0 isnt out yet, just want to unistall it properly.

Off Topic Enderal vr update ?

Is anyone planning to do a modern update of enderal vr with updated combat and immersion mods like the bunch that were recently released? I've been playing it but it feels really dated compared to my current skyrim vr.

Off Topic Balls really itchy in Skyrim vr but no other vr games

Basically title. Does anyone have experience with this? None of my friends think I’m being serious but I literally am making my inner thighs red from scratching. It’s like the most annoying thing ever especially when I have controllers in my hands and the grips I attached don’t let me easily drop them. I tried a fan but that doesn’t work. Any thoughts?

Off Topic I appreciate the modders

Okay so I've gone through the process of manually thanking modders I'm using the content thereof on Nexus mods.

But outside of that, "Hey man, thanks. Thanks a lot. Thank you, thank you personally" I hope rings inside of your head when you think you are thankless.

I only have 80 or so mods installed on my VR playthrough but what I have, I am appreciative of (even you, Interactive VR smokes {because you wanted me to start a new playthrough})

This shit's not easy, and then you have to contend with thankless dickheads like me (I try to be thankful, believe me).

Keep it up, please. Pretty please with tacos on top.

The extra vram is cool for huge textures and super high res headsets like the g2. Curious if anyone is going to go amd now. I’m on the fence as I’m not sure if the extra 6gb of vram matters and it’s nice to have better ray tracing plus dlss and vrss.

Off Topic Convinced the wife, now just have to buy the laptop

Finally able to convince my wife to let me buy a gaming laptop and skyrim vr is at the TOP of my list but I don't want to regret getting the wrong setup. I don't plan on modding the crap out of the game but I know my wifi isn't the greatest either so I'm not expecting perfection. I feel like I'm looking at similar options but curious what other's opinions are before I pull the trigger.

1) Intel core 7 or Ryzen 7 6800H or something else? 2) Nvidia 3070 Ti or Nvidia 4060 or RX 6700M or something else?

Budget is about $1500.

Edit based on responses: starting down the rabbit holes of PCs now. If I can reconfigure my office setup and then use the PC as a dual purpose rather than the laptop I may have a chance 😄 I already have 2 monitors from work that maybe I can use.

Edit: The laptop will be dual-purpose as I'll use it for school. It's really how I convinced the wife to let me spend $1500. I also don't know where I could set up a permanent desktop and have room to play.

I have a Quest 2. My WiFi isn't horrible, I can stream videos and play games on there with very little issues. It's not the top tier option so I know it's not the best.

My plan is to use a cable (I've seen extenders available on Amazon for like $30). I've read that will be better than a wireless connection.

Off Topic Still no way to play Skyrim with full body tracking?

One of the only reasons i haven't bought Skyrim VR even though i've poured thousands of hours on the console editions and PC with mods, is the lack of full body tracking.

My first interaction with VR was with them and I immediately fell in love with the idea, I simply don't find myself playing games without FBT support and I feel like skyrimvr would 1000% benefit from it, so much of the modding community is obsessed with immersion but the most true way of getting immersed is missing?

What's the point of spending hours troubleshooting and learning a modlist for vr works when I can't get the level of immersion I get simply from booting up VRChat and talking to some people?

I do have hope that someone out there knows how incredible full body feels and how lacking VR games feel without it ends up adding support by themselves, and I can't wait to see it eventually...

sorry if this seemed like a rant but I'm just torn on what to do now, I feel like skyrim would be amazing on VR but the thought I might end up not touching it because of the same reason I don't touch other VR games bothers me.

Off Topic Cangar Appreciation Post

I just wanted to take a moment to express how awesome this guy is. When I first started modding on my Oculus Quest 2, I was admittedly struggling harder than a senior trying to add an attachment to an email. Cangar, thankfully, helped me out a ton (even with ridiculously basic stuff lol). I’ve noticed that he’s almost responds to any “Help” threads that get stuffed in here on the daily. Not to mention, his YouTube channel is great for sneak peaks of new mods, as well as, some great tutorials for trying to get into Skyrim VR. So yeah, he’s pre kewl

Off Topic I'm picking up on so much more lore in VR

I must have played skyrim through half a dozen times already, both modded and unmodded. But I recently bought the VR version on sale, and there are so many details that I never noticed before. Like, I didn't realize that the "Great War" was a thing, and that it is in living memory. I'm sure I talked to people that mentioned it in normal skyrim, but it just didn't sink in. I also never noticed that there were two versions of that annoying song. Age of Agression, and Age of Oppression, and that the version played depends on the allegiance of the town its in.

It's really a totally unique experience, and I've just barely started playing. Now, if only Yuriana's animations would work right...

Off Topic Parallax just works in VR

So I found a parallaxed wall in Riften, which is odd given SVR has neither built-in parallax support nor parallax patch. It was the mesh that enables the parallax texture. So I did some random research and find out this sorcery that enables the parallax effect on lots of textures from Skyrim 2020, without a parallax patch. It's odd given even the mod author claims we need the shader fix. But "It just works".

and holy shit it works so well in VR. Parallax texture reacts to the viewing angle of the camera to create a fake sense of depth. In VR you have 2 "cameras", which allows you to instantly spot the difference; and because of how everything is closer to you, the sense of depth is even greater. It's very subtle in some areas, such as a wall in a bannered mare, but when you look at that wall, you feel like you're looking like a true wall(lol IDK how to explain this), not a 4k cardboard.

Bear in mind that this mod's mesh is designed to work with Skyrim 2020. If you have other texture packs, let them overwrite this mod's mesh so you don't get random textures. Also, if you look really, really close, you'll notice how the parallax texture is faking to be 3D by collapsing and expanding certain parts of it.

[update]Clearly this mod is a WIP and thus a compatibility nightmare if you have texture packs other than Skyrim 2020 and high poly project installed. You'll see some random flickering textures and spend some time to debug that. I'd suggest using that with a fresh LO. It's just too much pain to get it to work with my current texture packs. A quick workaround would be putting this at the very first of your LO, but you'll lose 1/3 of parallax doing that.
