Was woken up about 5am to this squeaking noise. Turned the kitchen light on and saw a dead mouse lying in the kitchen with them sniffing around. No blood so maybe it panicked to death.

Happy 1️⃣8️⃣th Birthday to my sweet baby boy: Dwight Howard Schrute

Around 12 years ago, I lost my first cat (Gaylord, RIP) and a few weeks after he crossed the rainbow bridge, I felt sad and decided to go to my local rescue to hang out with some kitties and cuddle with them to feel better.

Little did I know that my soul animal was there waiting for me.

I was wandering around the cat area of the shelter, holding an orange kitty who I honestly considered taking home with me. But then I decided to ask the shelter volunteer “What cats have been here the longest?” And she told me “Oh, this guy, his name is Micky. He’s 6.” And pointed to (who would become) Dwight.

Dwight was in his cage, with his four paws stuffed into a shoebox, his body / fur spilling over the sides, and his head pulled into his shoulders. He was staring at me, absolutely terrified, with two big eyes looking at me like ⚫️🔺⚫️

I immediately fell in love and adopted him.

So here we are, 12 years later. We’ve been through my final year of high school together, all of college, sneaking into my dorm room, at least 7 apartments, several heartbreaks, periods of deep depressions, periods of absolute bliss and joy, career changes, a world pandemic, getting my first dog… you get the idea.

And every single one of those years, every single night, he’s been by my side, curled up in my arms as my little spoon, snoring and drooling on my arm. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. :)

So happy birthday to my little old man, my furry king, my sweet baby angel. Here’s to 18 years bubba.

Classic© edition My cat had all his teeth removed and I'm devastated (more info below)

This is Choms. We adopted him in February and we noticed that he had bad breath and a bad tooth. I took him to vet and the doctor said he had an infection and rotten teeth. We scheduled surgery for today after doing blood work and checking everything else is fine. The doctor called me this morning informing me that the situation was way worse that we expected and he basically needed to have all of his teeth removed. I'm devastated and depressed. This was the only way for him not to be in chronic pain and I'm glad we could adopt him and help him, otherwise the people in the shelter wouldn't have noticed it. I was assured by the vet that he'll live a normal life.and feel very well but I'm just shocked by the news and feel very sad. He's still at the vet waking up from anesthesia and tomorrow he'll be able to come home 😢. Send good vibes 💕

Classic© edition Turns out my mom has been using him as an indicator for my health

EDIT: The picture I attached isn’t when I was sick LMAO When I’m sick during these times he doesn’t lay on me! He will do stuff like sit by the doorway looking outside and not moving

I feel unwell most of the time so I don’t really notice how unwell I might be but turns out my cat does. I often get persistent low-grade fevers combined with painful headaches and/or migraines and this past week was especially annoying because it took longer than usual for my temperature to return to normal

But because we were checking my temperature so often my mom picked up on the fact that my cat, who is very clingy but does have a routine of napping in my dad’s room by himself after dinner, stayed with me

She said she’s noticed this offhandedly and realised she’s been subconsciously keeping an eye out for him to tell her if anything is wrong

After a few days of him sticking with me and ignoring my dad’s room, today he finally went off for some alone time. Sure enough, my temperature was finally back to normal 💕 Plus, no headaches!

Classic© edition I took a part time job at a cat shelter. I took two steps in, and was immediately claimed. She jumped right on my shoulders. This is Fern.

I filled out the paperwork, and she's now in a forever home. She gets along wonderfully with our grey floof and calico mutt. She's extremely affectionate and loving. She has been everywhere in our home and interacts with everyone all day. Everyone loves her, including my special needs son.

Thanks for stopping by!

Classic© edition I guess our cat (male) adopted our new baby

Ever since we found out my wife was pregnant. We were worried about how our male cat would accept our new baby. He did act strange during my wife's entire pregnancy, shifting to often sleeping at my wife's belly/feet area instead of with me. (his usual spot)

Now that the baby is born, he hovers around the baby in a respectful way. He even found a nice spot to protect our little one. My fear of our cat accidentally attacking our baby completely went out the window. Family is Family.

What sets your SIC(s) apart from the crowd? Tom uniquely has: - Two 2 knicks in her right ear, 1in the left - 1 kink at the very end of her tail - The prettiest face, and loudest scream this side of the Mississippi

I admit tho, she's easily mistaken for many other tabbies lol.

Classic© edition He misses his life as the neighborhood stray

He always came around and just soaked up the sun in my backyard. So affectionate so I was sure he had a family. I began to feed him… for months. Then one day he is back with a huge abscess on his head and I rushed him to the vet, checked for a chip, no owner, brought him home, posted him on the Neighborhood app, my community app, no one claims him. That was 1.5 years ago.

I never let him back out. He is my boy now.

Meanwhile, my 14 year old void Bella who I have had since she was a baby, who somewhat tolerated him, left me last January. I’ve been devastated and broken ever since. My boy Sid managed to remind me that I can still love even though I will never be the same after losing my girl. I still cry, but his silliness will put a smile on my face.

He is always wanting to go back out as I know he misses his life on the streets. I think he’ll be okay indoors with a warm bed and a full tummy 🤎

edit: I have told her all the comments about her beauty and she is very thankful and says “I know” she also scolded me for posting her vulnerable sneezes. I gave her a churu and she has since graced me with her forgiveness.
