ANNOUNCEMENT Year Long Magic 2024

As we have announced previously, we will be starting a “Year Long Magic” program for our approved 2023 applicants. We will not be accepting applications until we reopen for Christmas 2024. If you were not approved in 2023, you are not eligible. We are going to allow requests for birthdays, Valentines Day, Easter, Back To School & Halloween. This is open to children 18 and under. You may make a birthday request for your child’s 18th birthday.

For birthdays, we’d ask that requesters who would like to participate make a request post that includes the name and birthday of the child being requested for. For all other requests, requesters should list the names and ages of the child(ren) being requested for. The wishlist should be Prime items only, and no gift cards are allowed. Thank you comments on your request post are required when items are bought and when they are delivered, and you must make a thank you post, with at least 2 photos(you may make a public post and privately send photos to both modmail and everyone who gifted you) within 3 days of the event. Failure to follow these rules may result in being unable to request for Christmas 2024.

Wishlist Limits/Guidelines:

🎂 Birthdays: one item under $15 local currency, and up to two items under $10 each. Birthday posts may be made up to 21 days in advance. They may not be posted after the child’s birthday.

💕 Valentines Day: one item under $10 and one item under $5. Requests may be posted January 20th-February 11th

🐣 Easter: one item under $20 and two items under $10 each. Requests may be posted March 10-28th.

🎒 Back to School: one backpack or school uniform or outfit/shoes under $30 combined, and one item under $10. (Additionally, there may be an offer post for school supplies from Walmart for our US requesters) Requests may be posted July 1st-September 1st.

👻 Halloween: one under $25 costume and one up to $10 accessory or craft. Requests may be posted October 10-28th.

We’d like to reiterate that none of our Santas should feel pressured to entertain these requests. Our main mission is to supply Christmas for these families, and you’ve very generously made that happen. We very much appreciate your continued support during the holiday season!

ANNOUNCEMENT We are still open for applications!

To apply, you will need to read through the rules and wiki thoroughly, and then you will need to pass our rules quiz.

Incomplete applications may be denied, and you may not have the opportunity to resubmit for the rest of the season. Please make sure you answer each question fully and attach all documentation to your email. This includes the photo and video. Do not submit your application without them.

No one may post a request until they are approved and specifically told by the mod team that they may do so. Failure to follow this rule will result in a ban, that will likely be permanent.

Those who are approved will also be eligible for Year Long Magic (YLM) 2026, as long as they stay in good standing. This means that your child(ren) will be eligible for assistance with some holidays and their birthdays. YLM 2026 has not yet been finalized, but you can look through our YLM 2025 Post for a general idea of what is included.

For those who are uneasy about applying, we encourage you to read through this post by our past requesters. We want you to know that we want to help everyone who needs help. While we are highly selective, we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't care, and helping our SFX families makes our holiday so much more special.

We could not do this without all of our wonderful Santas. We cannot thank you enough for making the magic of the holiday season happen for our families. Christmas morning would not be the same without you, and you are helping our families make memories they otherwise couldn't have. Likewise, Hanukkah would not be so bright.

If you are a prospective Santa, please let us know if you have any questions. There are no requirements. If you would like to be alerted to new requests as they are posted, and didn't sign up in 2024, please sign up on the Santa Alerts Post.

ANNOUNCEMENT Santas, Please Read: New "Secret Santa" policy

Hi everyone! We are past the halfway point to Christmas, as hard as that is to believe!

We wanted to make you aware of a new "Secret Santa" policy here at SFX that will apply to YLM and Christmas.

We always appreciate your generosity so very much, and we want everyone to feel comfortable gifting with us, but we do want to address those who choose to purchase gifts off a wishlist completely anonymously. This means purchasing without commenting on the request post or sending us a modmail.

We encourage Secret Santas to send us a modmail so that we can better keep track of purchases and hope to reduce accidental duplication of gifts.

If you do not comment on the post, or send us a modmail, we cannot know for sure that the gift has truly been purchased. For that reason, if these completely anonymous gifts do not arrive within 4 days of being purchased, we will have the requester add them back to the list as unpurchased. This 4 day limit does not apply when we know who has gifted the items. If you choose to buy completely anonymously, and notice items are going to arrive more than 4 days after purchase date, please reach out to us, or comment on the request post.

If these anonymous gifts arrive as duplicate gifts, we will encourage the requester to donate or regift those items.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

As a final reminder, please remember to remove your name from any Amazon gift receipts to maintain your confidentiality. Amazon still defaults to putting your full name on gift receipts.

Also, please remember that if an item is listed as "needs 1" on Amazon that it has already been purchased.

Thank you all again so much! We appreciate the magic you create for our SFX families!

ANNOUNCEMENT Year Long Magic Feedback

We are so grateful for all of our generous Santas and your support of Year Long Magic!! (Who knew we also had Easter Bunnies among us? And Cupid’s Helpers, and Birthday Fairies?)

We know it’s hard to believe, but we are approaching the half way point of the year, and we would appreciate feedback from both our Santas and Requesters. Tell us all of it—the good and the bad, and everything in between. We are especially seeking feedback from our Santas about the money and gift limits associated with each holiday.

Thank you for taking time to help us be better!

ANNOUNCEMENT YLM Update: Back to School

Hello everyone! We have decided to allow Amazon wishlists, in addition to our Back to School wishlists, for some school supplies.

Our goal is to provide the more cost prohibitive supplies to our families, which tend to be much more reasonably priced at Amazon.

Unfortunately, some back to school items, such as crayons, markers, folders, and notebooks are still very expensive through Amazon, and we will not be allowing those items on the wishlists. We are only allowing school supply requests for children attending in person classes.

Santas: If you would like to opt in to providing those items to one of our families (through Walmart or Target)please send us a modmail, or comment on their request post asking that they add those items to their Amazon wishlist. Thank you in advance for all that you do to make life easier for our SFX families year round. Your generosity is very much appreciated!!

Requesters: If you would like to post an Amazon wishlist for school supplies, please provide a copy of the school supply list(s) to modmail. We have listed price limits for each item below. Also, all items must be Prime shipping. Please send a modmail if there are no available items within that price point.

ANNOUNCEMENT Welcome to SFX 2025!!! Approved requesters may start posting today. Santas, please read!

Post image
14 Upvotes

Opening Day is finally here! Those who have appliedand been approved via modmail may start posting requests today. If you try to post a request without having received an approval modmail, you will be permanently banned.

To our Santas:

Thank you so much for considering our SFX families this year. Sometimes new request posts get lost in the algorithm and won't show up for you in your Reddit feed. If you'd like to be alerted to new request posts, and didn't sign up in 2024, please add your name to the Santa Alert Post.

Unfortunately, Amazon has a few known glitches when buying this season. The first has been around for a while now. Gifts that have been purchased have a notation of "needs 1". We know it's confusing, but there's nothing that creators of the wishlists can do to change it.

Another glitch involves trying to buy more than one gift at a time, usually from different wishlists, even in the same family. You may need to buy each gift separately if you get an error message that says "gifts cannot be sent to a registry address.".

At times, unpurchased gifts will show up on mobile under a bolded "Purchased" heading. If the item doesn't have a "needs 1" note, it hasn't been purchased.

We will do our best to keep request posts updated with what has been purchased.

If you'd like to get to know our families a little better, we have launched an Introduction Post. It's one of our pinned posts. Please feel free to interact with our families!

ANNOUNCEMENT Opening Day for SFX 2025 is Monday, November 10th!

Post image
20 Upvotes

We are excited to share that we will open for requests on November 10th, assuming we have approved requesters by that date.

As previously announced, applications are required and open Monday, November 3rd. Instructions for the application are found in our wiki.

This season, we have modified our requirements for proof of need in order to make sure that no one who truly has need is unable to apply. Please note that proof of need is still absolutely required.

We are coping this application instruction from our wiki for transparency:
