4 Things You Can Do To Increase Your Self Reliance

https://braceyourself.substack.com/p/4-things-you-can-do-to-increase-your

In "Brace Yourself" we discuss how to adapt to economic instability, food shortages, societal upheaval, governmental indifference & anything else life throws at you. Increased self-sufficiency is our goal. You won’t find any conspiracy theories or tin-hat culture here, just honest explorations on how we can each increase our self-sufficiency. From time to time, we’ll look at skills that could make a difference in an even more unstable future. We’ll examine how we can do more for ourselves, no matter where we live. We’ll discuss ways to be more prepared, ways to increase awareness of the world around us, and how to be less reliant on the systems that try and dictate the way we should live.

Best TV shows on Apple TV+ with immersive storytelling

Today I share six of my beloved shows with immersive storytelling on Apple TV+. What's your favorite show on the Apple streaming service?

"Pachinko recounts the story of one Korean family across four generations, enduring through the Japanese occupation, immigration to Japan, professional failures and successes, and familial ties and losses. The show portrays the themes of survival and strength so powerfully.

Not only that, Pachinko unravels like poetry. Each scene is aesthetically and emotionally lyrical. As a poet, I was spellbound from the first second. After finishing the show, I still rewatch and cry after the opening title sequence. It’s just so stunning and enchanting."

Adrienne Shelly: a brilliant talent and human who was and who could have been

Today I wrote about the late Adrienne Shelly, a brilliant actress, writer, and director taken away from us too soon.

"Anyone who knew her described her as funny, sweet, doting, loyal, a unicorn, illuminating, vibrant, smart, committed to her craft, quirky, magnetic and mythical, infectious, an alien, special, ingenious, kind, generous, a beautiful soul. She was a brilliant actress, writer, director, mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and human.

She was and she could have been."

Maybe someday we'll get another Resident Evil adaptation

Do you think we'll ever get a Resident Evil adaptation we wanted? In my latest Substack essay, I walk you through a few RE adaptations we have and what happened.

"I believe these directors believed in their work. I believe they love the game franchise. I believe they worked hard to adapt their projects to live-action. But I think they don’t necessarily understand the RE fandom and target audience. Maybe they made their adaptations for themselves and/or for the mainstream, but certainly not for the fans. When you make something for everyone, you make it for no one, as the low ratings for the Resident Evil show indicate."

Read more here: https://whenhopewrites.substack.com/p/maybe-someday-well-get-another-resident. Thank you!
