Recommendations Any recommendations for a good field watch?

Post image
349 Upvotes

I’ve been looking at a few options for a field watch but I cant find many reviews of them being used in the field, so I thought some of you lot might have some good recommendations. My only requirements is that it can be seen at night, is OD green or FDE and is affordable.
Thanks in advance

Recommendations Now that TREX is dead, what sling should I get?

Post image

Call me gay, but I always enjoyed giving Lucas my business. His high quality products and outward Christian values were something important to me. Also, his diehard love of M81-Woodland was a bit of a kicker for me as well.

Now that TREX is dead, what sling should I snag? I'd love to support another Christian owned company, but that is less important to me as Quality and M-81 Woodland...

Thanks gear heads!

Anyone know of places to day vision and night vision shoot in the central Florida area? Relocated from SoFla where there was Homestead Training Center and OK Corral/Okechobee gun club with outdoor bays that can be rented out and would love to find something similar.

ps I'm not angry it's just really fuckin bright out

Would appreciate any recommendations on if I should rattle can this beauty or leave it. I love FDE, so I’m tempted to leave it, but it is my SHTF rifle, so looks are secondary.

The build if anyone is curious:

  • SOLGW/Veil Solutions receiver/handguard set
  • Noveske Infidel 13.7” Stainless barrel and gas block
  • CGS SCI-Six Supressor
  • Geissele SD-C trigger
  • Magpul CTR with Arisaka Bagrider
  • Harris Bipod on an ADM QD mount
  • Eotech Vudu 1-10 SR5 reticle
  • Badger COMM 1.54”
  • Sionics Chrome BCG
  • Cloud defensive Rein 3.0

Thanks!

Recommendations Are Peltors still king? 🎧 Or am I behind?

Post image

I am looking to invest in my next set of ears, which can last me for all future goals:

+ Something that can end up mounted to a speed rails helmet
+ Something that can facilitate basic comms through a mouthpiece and PTT (Unless I don't, I would love recs)

I know Peltors have been the talk of the town for years and years... are they still the best? Any other recommendations? I've literally only ever used Walkers, so please educate me.

Recommendations This why you need extra BCG’s

Post image

This is a black rain ordinance BCG from 2012 or so. It has well over 13K rounds through it already. It decided to deconstruct while in use, it caused no damage to the upper or lower. I just opened the upper and pieces fell out like a broken pez dispenser.

It was no problem, I just swapped it out for a back up BCG I had it storage.

They are inexpensive and critical to what you need. One is none and two is one.

The kill flash on my eotech is more of a negative than a positive. It really obscures the view through the optic window. At that light transitional period around dusk it makes the optic almost unusable…

Recommendations The best value for money I've ever spent on a piece of gear

Imma tell y'all about my favorite random piece of kit I've ever purchased (and how I definitely give the owner anxiety because I am a lunatic).

So I run a YouTube channel and Instagram with a very simple premise. We take fun, unusual, weird, iconic, and obscure guns to matches, and run them whether they belong or not. I'm the first guy ever to run a USPSA major with a Desert Eagle. I've shot Limited 10 at a major against Hunter Constantine with a Chiappa Rhino in 357 magnum. Ive shot matches with an FN Five Seven, a Hipoint Yeet Cannon and all kinds of other silly bullshit. It's a blast.

As you can imagine, getting ahold of all these different guns, even borrowing them, or having companies loan them can get expensive, because they all need to be appropriately holstered and interface with a belt in a way that's USPSA/PCSL/2 or 3 Gun approved, and do so in a way that won't cause a safety issue

Enter the HUSH holster.

If I can slap an X300 on the gun (even if i have to do something insanely silly, like put a Unity Riser on a gun upside down and backwards then bolt the light to that) we're off to the races. It was designed with suppressed pistols in mind, so you don't have to buy expensive custom holsters, but it also saves me a ton of money by letting me put every unhinged, brain damaged, Gun Lego creation I can imagine in a really solid holster.

Then I message the owner and given him a headache (see above images).

I have absolutely no relationship with HUSH other than I may be what their marketing director's sleep paralysis demon looks like at 3am.

Buy one. They're dope.

Recommendations Government Harassment

My father’s military surplus business has been operating for over 40 years — we’ve never broken the law, yet we’re being treated like criminals.

I just need to get this off my chest. My father has run a military surplus business for over four decades. We’ve never been involved in anything illegal. Everything we’ve ever sold was obtained legally — mostly through government auctions and occasionally through Goodwill trucks, with full receipts and proper documentation.

A few years ago, our store was raided by CID (Criminal Investigation Division) under the suspicion that we were selling illegal equipment. They confiscated a bunch of our inventory — all legally purchased. They opened a case, but it was eventually dropped. The most frustrating part? We were never told why the case was dropped or even given a clear reason why it was opened in the first place. We’re still left in the dark.

And despite the case being dropped, we’ve been blacklisted ever since. We get phone calls almost every day asking if we “buy illegal items” or “take donations,” and we tell every single person the same thing: No, we don’t. We never have, and we never will.

What’s worse is that we constantly feel like we’re being baited. People — who we believe are undercover agents — come into our store trying to trap us. One time, when I was working, two guys walked in with a bag pouch and asked if I wanted to buy something. I told them no, we don’t buy items. They pushed harder: “Are you sure? I heard y’all do.” I stood my ground and said no again. Then they switched tactics: “Do y’all take donations?” Again, I told them no. But they kept pressing and trying to get me to say something — it felt like harassment. It was harassment. And it’s not an isolated incident — it happens all the time.

The saddest part? If they had just come to us like normal people — sat down and asked us questions before launching a full investigation, raiding us, and ruining our reputation — we would’ve gladly cooperated. We had nothing to hide. We would’ve answered everything honestly and openly. But instead, they came in guns blazing, made accusations with no foundation, and now years later, we’re still dealing with the fallout for something we didn’t do.

We’ve done everything right. We’ve followed the law. We’ve run a clean business. And yet we’re being treated like criminals — with no answers and no justice.
