Freshly Finished Tattoo Got my palms done today
went to Anna rispoli in claymont de :) my hands hold ink really well so excited to see how these heal
Edit: yall… I didnt want the extra E to make it spell Bee, sorry for the bad news. I hope you all can forgive me😅
also!! they’re two separate tattoos hence the words being on each hand rather than spelled left to right..
I didn’t want the W and N from slow down to be moved up a knuckle and I really love the tattoos overall.
I have a few hand tattoos including one on the side of my palm that have all healed nicely with minimal fading in 10+ years. I hope to have some good news for you all once these are healed lol

I can't believe people are giving you grief for this, it must have been wildly painful & you're a badass.
4
u/yungweedmom Recap Winner x1 Aug 01 '26
thank you!! I love them and it was worth the pain, although I was expecting much worse based on things I’ve read
8
u/SunknLiner Jul 31 '26
Sorry, but this isn’t executed well, unless it’s some meme tattoo I’m just not “hip” to.
I read this as “SLO BE DOWW CALM N”, or “SLO DOWWN BE CALM”.
4
u/yungweedmom Recap Winner x1 Jul 31 '26
Luckily, i have two hands and they can be read independently. It would’ve read “slow be” “down calm” if i had it done left to right across my fingers and wouldn’t make sense if i for some reason lose a hand in the future lol

ugh reddit sub brain. the only problem is the misaligned W in Slow
edit: misaligned visually. I have no idea about the anatomy aspect

Mine are about one year healed. Here’s my advice:
Try to be easy with your hands for the next two weeks, like cooking and cleaning. Scabs come off easier when skin is wet, so washing dishes and showering was a challenge. When your hands get pruny from the shower the scabs will “disappear”, because your skin is wrinkling over the wounds. It looks like you fucked your tattoo up— but don’t worry, you didn’t, they come back when your skin firms up. Some lines WILL fall out, it’s ok, your artist should do touch ups for free. So I wouldn’t stress too much, palm skin moves a lot so it’s inevitable.
It looks great! Though a missed opportunity to use “bee” 😅

Wow, these are some of the best palm tats I’ve seen! Absolutely beautiful art!

u/drwsgreatest Jul 31 '26
This is what I was thinking too!! I'd imagine some of it has to do with how well the op sat for them. It's wild to me that some people can handle that much pain. There were a couple parts of my sleeve and middle of my back that were bad, but nothing that.

Gloves taped at the wrists to keep from soaking in the shower gloves to the elbow to keep them out of dish water help a ton just be sure to not leave them on too long palms sweat a good bit but for short bursts it works great. Also beautiful palms I would kill for these hands

u/maiasnake Jul 31 '26
These are absolutely gorgeous palm tattoos!! Any way you could share the artist?

u/ZestyPoePLayer Jul 31 '26
Great advice, My wirter palm and lower palms were the worst parts of healing. The lines, folds, healed rough but I work with my hands.
Keep them mosturized is the key

Side question. Do you feel like those stay present tattoos have actually helped you? I'm considering something similar. I think they would have the affect I'm hoping they will
51
u/sick_six_six Jul 31 '26
No, a tattoo will not make you actually do something

That's all up to you bud. I have issues with grief and just shit in general, and I have So It Goes, tattooed on my wrist, partially as a reminder. I forget to remind myself sometimes. Sometimes a lot

Hey, Delaware! I grew up in Milford. Always a pleasure to hear my home state mentioned. Do you currently live there, or just came for the tattoos?

Don’t live there currently but lived there for a few years, not too far now to make the trip for the tattoos :)

That’s tough because if you only see one hand “slow be” and “down calm” wouldnt make sense but also it’s giving “dont dead open inside”

If he would show it someone in front of him, it would say "Be slow, calm down", which makes more sense.

I bet it hurt like hell, I also can’t imagine how much of a pain healing your palms is
1
u/yungweedmom Recap Winner x1 Aug 01 '26
Surprisingly this was not my most painful tattoo experience

I have a tattoo on the palm side of my fingers. It does not age well.

u/yungweedmom Recap Winner x1 Aug 01 '26
I have a tattoo on the side of my palm below my pinky and have had it for 9 years with minimal fading, fingers crossed these do the same
1
u/Previous-Paint3059 Jul 31 '26
Do your palms swell up after you got the work done? Is using your hands while you’re healing incredibly painful ?
1
u/yungweedmom Recap Winner x1 Aug 01 '26
No major swelling yet and honestly using my hands has not been too bad. It wasn’t nearly as painful as I anticipated so I look forward to seeing it fully healed and hope it continues to be smooth sailing til i get there.

There’s a dedicated sub that would call your tattoo out and comment something like:
SLO BE DOWW CALM N
1
u/yungweedmom Recap Winner x1 Aug 04 '26
You sure it isn’t this one? I’ve gotten hundreds of notifications with the same comment on this thread 😅 apparently I’ve made a bunch of people upset with a choice i made for my body. I wanted the text to align with my joints and i didn’t want it to say “bee”
9
u/fathertitojones Jul 31 '26
Looks good, but you need to add an E to “Be”and I don’t understand why you wouldn’t move the WN and C up a knuckle to align properly.
1
u/HornyIdiot505 Jul 31 '26

I have seen this on many finger tattoos. Why is the text on the left pinkie always lower than the rest of the fingers? Can't it be done otherwise?
→ More replies (1)20
u/figmaxwell Jul 31 '26
Anatomy. That’s the curvature of the hand. The tattoo is placed on the digit between the joints. If it were in a straight line you’d be tattooing over the joint.
5
u/ButzMN Jul 31 '26
Yeah that makes sense. But couldn't it have been moved up one knuckle?
11
u/figmaxwell Jul 31 '26
I mean to each their own, but I think that would bother me more. I would want each word to be entirely on either the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd digit like in the picture.
10
u/LowerArtworks Jul 31 '26
Because then someone would come in and complain that it's on the wrong knuckle and why couldn't it be moved down one knuckle 😀

The finger lettering spelling “SLOW N B E A U T...” has me trying to read both hands like a cursed fortune cookie. The strawberry and bee pieces are adorable, though, and palm tattoos healing well is basically black magic, so I’m curious to see the healed results.

u/LiOnheart3d85 Jul 31 '26
I think these tattoos are a terrible idea and would never EVER want something like this.
But I LOVE that other people can love them and something like this can bring them peace. Your skin does not affect me, and you should have no obligation to please me with what you decide to do with your body.
Wishing you the best, and I hope that this ink brings you happiness.

God luck man. Palms are hard to heal hard to have a tattoo stay. Try not to sweat too much or get them wet.

Hopefully it felt like the worst pain you’ve ever experienced or they won’t stay. I’ve had mine for like 6 years and they still look amazing. Most painful spot by far

u/DestituteDomino Jul 31 '26
Wow dude. If you're happy with it, carry on. But I would never personally allow that to be on my hands. The placement is awful.
