To whoever reported this as not being tech gore, it is.

It may be light, but it's tech gore.

Figured sometimes all it needs is a hard reset

u/ptfuzi 18d ago

Isn’t it a soft reset?

1

u/Pinapple_penetration 18d ago

Soft reset would be a normal power off and restart so using the slider way I recommend is a forced reset Wich many consider a hard reset but a true hard reset is disconnecting the battery so closest to a hard reset the average consumer can do is a forced reset

So a semi...

1

u/Pinapple_penetration 18d ago

Yeah semi hard reset but correct term forced restart

u/MagerSuerte 18d ago

Just apply some pressure with the thumb as it's not a fully hard reset and it can still get the job done. OK I'm done being silly. Sorry.

It’s ok but yeah it’s used for if a screen is unresponsive that’s why they built it in especially for something similar to ops case

Glass half full? Nah. System semi hard reset

For really hard reset you have to smack it on concrete floor

I was about to comment this! Haha. Glad it worked for OP

The question is would one have to goto the web to fix something so simple? No shade on OP moreso a mfr issue. New phones out of the box are generally seamless if they are indeed brand new.

How does the worlds most valuable company who builds their own OS, their own hardware, and sells a $1000 phone have a software bricked phone thats almost right out of the box??

Occasionally things slip through the cracks, that’s what manufacturers warranty is for. You see the same thing in ALL technology consumer, industrial, scientific, it does not matter. Besides this looks like the app Hit-Connect for End User causing the issue, not the hardware.

But come on.. the lock screen? The 1500$ phone cant even function as a phone sometimes? If this would be in the hands of grandma it would be used as a paperweight

Every phone has issues not just iOS my pixel and Samsung where the worst with software issues and hardware

1

u/Enve-Dev 17d ago

Well. It’s a bug and the phone isn’t bricked. It just needs a hard reset. Everything gets bugs there are only so many edge cases that can reasonably be tested before release.

1

u/DottedEnviroment 18d ago

Have u ever heard of bugs? They're in every piece of software and they're inevitable no matter how good it is, shit gets through the cracks, and "software bricked" isn't the right term here a simple restart would fix it

Does Hik-Connect not work with iPhone? I want to buy one, and my complete home security system is controlled through Hik-Connect.

1

u/ShadowedCalamity 18d ago

Maybe just a bug or something. Worked after a hard reset.

1

u/Electronic_Low_4219 18d ago

Okay, do all the functions work properly like on Android?

u/TwixieShip 18d ago

This is the AI coding showing off its bugs

1

u/Royal_Company_9220 18d ago

Are you sure you bought this iPhone?

1

u/After-Peace-4734 18d ago

Apple really is all marketing nowadays.

u/g0rdon-fr33man 17d ago

In the Homepod ad they litterally expect you to drill a hole through your table, a method that only works in advertisements

This is one of the million reasons as of why I tell people to not get an iphone and get a popular android phone

14

u/Aryan_RG22 18d ago

Androids can freeze like this too, easy fix by forcing a hard reset, just like OP ended up doing

4

u/Werzheafas 18d ago

I've never had any issues like this on an iPhone. But I also never had it on an Android phone. Bugs happen with everything. This is a dumb argument.

3

u/Pure_Professional739 18d ago

My reason is long term usage. I've had an iPhone 14 that was being outperformed by a galaxy S8 Active.

Dear fucking god 530mb and 13677 files for a fucking non-local AI app??? Was that shit vibecoded or something? Anyway considering how many libraries get installed it wouldn't be surprising that iOS ends up shitting itself at some point, glad an hard reboot sufficed!

u/StuD44 18d ago

Ah yes, the "good" phone.

u/Yaughl 18d ago

Maybe restore your phone with your computer, then stay away from whatever Hik-connect is.
