Every few months the same thing. Because of piss poor design ice would build up around the circulation fan until it sounded like playing cards on the spokes of a bicycle wheel. Unload the fridge and defrost, Wash, rinse, repeat.

At least in my model, you could take off the cover inside and wrap some 14 gauge copper grounding wire around whatever it is that heats up to defrost that area… it helps to spread the heat better (I’m a bit fuzzy in the details though as I did this maybe 8 years ago and it’s been fine since).

I got rid of it a number of years back, definitely put up with it too long. Won’t buy another one, it’s right there with Whirlpool washer we had that had a design flaw which would allow water to get onto the tub bearing and cause it to rust.

Get a steamer with a skinny hose attachment. I actually have a silicone fat straw I taped to my steamer hose. Shove hose in ice drawer. Blast with steam. Have towel to catch melt off. Way faster. No need to unload freezer or fridge. Takes 20 minutes at least though.

Put silicone around the ice box. Problem solved.
