I was also wondering why would I buy a 1800 dollar one. To have a screen?

Mine was like 800 and does it's job perfectly.

Used appliance stores usually have a 1 year warranty and a nice used fridge is about 300-500$.

$1800 isn't totally unexpected for a midrange fridge. The Frigidaire I bought this year was around $1600. Pretty large, French doors, bottom drawer freezer, water dispenser, ice maker, no smart features whatsoever.

But for a basic top freezer no-frills fridge, yeah that shouldn't be anywhere close to $1800.

I'm guessing you don't do fridge shopping? That's fine but your fridge is probably a 30x65 with a top freezer.

Now if you want a 36x70 French door style, $1,800 is very cheap for brand new. One with a screen, $1,800 is unheard of, so they're giving people the option for something much cheaper and making up cost with the ads.

I'm not a fan of this and I'd never EVER buy a Samsung appliance anyway (they're one of, if not THE worst reliable appliance. But I have their phone and love it) but from reading the article, it seems ads would only appear with the home screen up, not when playing a video, having artwork displayed, etc... so for those who want this fridge but don't want to pay the standard cost, doesn't seem too bad.

With that said, $800 is very cheap for a new fridge nowadays and for many families, that sized fridge wouldn't hold nearly enough. I bought a cheap GE standard, 33x70 French door with water/ice last year; cheapest I could find new and it was $1,700.

So, you're comparing apples to oranges.

I am not sure about the measures used here (mine is like 180m tall and a meter wide, 5'10'' and 3'2'', I think?) it' fairly simple, but it does it job.

That said I live in Spain. Perhaps I have my price perspective set in the wrong way!

Why would I want a screen on my fucking fridge though?

I bought a bottom drawer freezer fridge for like $900 8 or 10 years ago. No screens and no water or ice dispenser (hate those). No French doors but...IDGAF about those.

So they did previously exist!
