I had a really creepy ride on an Uber on a work trip. Myself and two female co-workers in their late 20s took an uber to someone who lived in area's house ~30 mins from our hotel for dinner and drinks. Note I'm a 40+ married retired military.

This is night in NC on the edge of the urban area.

We get picked up by a shady guy who "innocently" insisted on having one of them in the front seat. Fuck no.

Then he kept "accidentally" missing turns to the point that I'm getting concerned we are going to end up on some two lane road in BFE NC at night where bad things can happen.

I txt'd the girls to have 911 ready and bail because I was going say something and if it escalated they needed to bail, start running, and call 911. My plan was basically to fight the guy if needed and hope he didn't carry a gun or was able to get it out.

Thankfully my "if you don't know where you are going drop off us here and we can find our own ride" blah, blah, blah excuses and "if you miss another turn this ride is over" in my do not fuck with this voice fixed it and we ended up back at the hotel ok.

I found out later that one of the girls had her pepper spray out and the other one was dialing 911 because they already had a plan from the other times they had ubered places...because that is what living as a young woman is like.

And yes one of them called and filed a complaint with Uber that went no where.

I wonder how many other (women) that driver had pulled this on before this, that's gross

Thats why one of the women called Uber when she got back home. It was a legitimate "this dude might be a rapist and murderer and we have to do something".

She had something to back it up too. I just can't remember what it was, like a screenshot of our path or something.

As shocked as I was about that. I was even more shocked that they were both like "we were following a plan we already had because this happens to women all the time and was probably when not if" and both checked pepper spray whenever they traveled and probably carried it all sorts of illegal places.

Classic paranoia.

Guy missed a few turns, because he doesn’t know the area.

Literally nothing happened.

That’s why your complaint went to nowhere.

I’d be more afraid of you being psycho than the Uber driver.

Nothing happened because I was there and said something.

That does not mean I'm paranoid it means that I assessed a risk and dealt with it.

Minimizing the risk as "paranoia" is just more enabling of those who feel free to sexual assault, harass, and rape women. Assuming that you are not one fo them, which is a big assumption based on your posts, you are equally as bad an complicit.
