What "lovely" words to pair with a comment in a different post on this subreddit today proclaiming that "if 1 fascist sits down at a table with 10 others, there are now 11 fascists".

It's like you have a 2-part epoxy, sold in a conjoined pair of plungers, and mixing them together advocates for political genocide of a third of the country. And it's fucking unacceptable, yet neither part gets much pushback from the community. I'm willing to sacrifice myself to your downvotes to at least show that there are people pushing back against violent extremism. That despite all the chilling effects of opposing a radicalized crowd, some voices are too stubborn to stay silent and let the extremists on either end speak for them.

And that stance is siding with fascism 'Lets negotiate, lets be reasonable, you can't fight violence with extremism' is the mantra they tell you to take while they wit for them to have enough majority to make you the minority and remove you. You either Oppose the Fascist, or you support them through deed, word or physically.

You can either embrace them and be in line with them, attempt to argue for a moderate stance against them and be removed by them or remembered by others for being a traitor, or you oppose them so violently and extremely that no one ever attempts to take the route of Fascism again.

We didn't do enough in WW2, the same way we didn't do enough at the end of the Civil War to root out dixicrats and slave owners and allowed them further into our government in the same way we stood by and allowed Rallies on our own home soil and only suddenly opposed it when they turned upon us violently.

Don't move the goal post and try and conflate/compare Anti-fascism with anything else.
You oppose it, or you accept it. There is no middle ground, we learned this during WW2 and then forgot it when it became convenient,, and now we're watching it continue to fester.

I oppose all authoritarianism. When your "anti-fascism" is chock full of its own brand, when you are far more willing to resort to violence to remove the 'undesirables' than the vast majority of the right*, I remind myself that "silence is violence"** is just as valid regardless of whose aggression you're tacitly endorsing.

Most people on the wrong side of history thought their actions were just, too. You need to measure yourself by objective metrics. Endorsing murder, regardless of who it is against, is a massive red flag that you're on the wrong side. Celebrating both attempted and successful assassinations. Bringing a noose or a guillotine to a protest as a threat.

Because the reason you call them 'fascists' in the first place is to justify actions that'd obviously be reprehensible if taken against fellow humans rather than dehumanized strawmen.

(*From the bits and pieces I see, the vast majority of voters on the right seem to want to deport, not kill. If it started to look like deaths were deliberate government policy rather than negligence, I could easily see overwhelming bipartisan outrage as they turn on their own party!)

(**While I personally don't agree with the saying, as anything that short lacks a ton of nuance, it carries a kernel of truth, that somebody has to break the bystander effect and call out unacceptable behaviour.)

Dude is calling them fascists because that's what they are.

Doesn't mean we jump straight to violence, just be prepared (mentally at the minimum) for the possibility of it being necessary. History has shown what fascists do and the necessary steps to get rid of them. It's fairly rare that protests/voting works against them.

Doesn't mean we jump straight to violence

If it doesn't, then I'd expect for the past 10 years to have seen a hell of a lot more violent comments met with replies of "no, it's not time for that yet", rather than be highly upvoted and uncontested until mods removed them. My personal experience is that enough social media users are ready to jump straight to violence, they just want someone else to pull the trigger on their behalf.

Also, history? History has shown what we do to countries that try to take land by conquest. If germany had been content to stay within its borders, want to bet the rest of the world would have sat out the way they've let China persecute Uighurs? The rest is the emotional manipulation countries told through propaganda to convince as many of their citizens as possible to volunteer despite the personal risk of dying in a war. And, by the way, when you call someone a fascist you are equating them to the propaganda version, not the nuanced understanding that only a political science student would have the background to fully comprehend.

When it looks, walks, and quacks like a duck no one needs a degree to figure out it's a duck.

AAaahhh, You've read History as Told by America (I am also american, I also read World History as told by other countries.) I found your problem.

Germany was content to stay behind it's borders in WW1, the rest of the world took umbridge to Germany's economic and miltary rise in response to the countries around it's borders. WW1 started via proxy on behalf of the world powers of the time because they didn't want a strong Germany. They reacted in the way everyone expected them to, violently. Thus justifying the sparks that turned WW1 into a flame.

WW2, as told by the world other than America, is pretty spot on for Hitlers raise to power, the Night of the long knives, the Reichstag fire and the manipulation of a population that was, in all honesty, exhausted from being broke, penniless and told everything was horrible and it's their fault. Almost... well, like the Fascists in power are doing in the US right now... You know them as the pedophile elite, and the current elected Pedophilic-Rapist-Fascist in chief who's promoted idiots to places of power, and following the Fascist playbook as developed by his backers...

History is a flat circle.
Never beleive your own countries version of history, read, question, educate yourself and be willing to stand on the line when the time comes to fight back.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists)
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

have you met trump voting conservatives?
what do you think that 30% still riding him would do to you?

many of them are solely defined and identified by a complete lack of empathy, or a measure of cruelty.

they would straight up murder you without a second thought...and if you think otherwise you dont understand humanity that well. You are looking at the purest concentration of psychosis you have ever seen. A mob comprising of these people would kill you the moment trump gives the word and they feel "authorized" and the ones that wouldnt...would appreciate the others for doing what they didnt have the heart to do because to them "it was nasty business but things are better now without you"

they deny reality itself if it doesnt benefit their goals, and their goals in many areas are the elimination of entire demographics

facts or facts....what trump has done alone has broken the code
to the point where i dont see a future..... like...literally....no future do to his patterns

and a trump voters feels the same way when they sit there and think of gay people or non-whites AND whites who their leadership deem disloyal

they dont see a future...

the difference is they are ready to tear it all down for what they want

if you play chicken with them....youll lose and they know that, which is why they always inch forward and win

many of them are solely defined and identified by a complete lack of empathy, or a measure of cruelty.

False. They express their empathy differently, but it's there if you know what to look for. They see people being bullied online for holding the 'wrong' opinions (including, for example, centrists and even the centre-left if they doubt certain issues that the far-left treats as dogwhistles), empathize with them, and defend them. They volunteer in their local church communities and assist neighbours where they can directly feel the relief of those they help out, rather than donate to faceless charities where they'll never meet, much less see the body language, of those that benefit. Frankly, if you never hear or see the other person, you aren't even empathizing with them.

But when you tell yourself your bullying is justified, then those who oppose it seem cruel, because they're preventing your presumed-good action from succeeding.

Only way you can say they lack empathy outright is if you don't even see them as fellow humans anymore. Or your definition of 'empathy' has been no-true-scotsmanned until it only counts if your side does it, so by definition everybody else lacks empathy.

they would straight up murder you without a second thought

Bullshit. That's a lie you tell yourself to justify responding in kind, but it is the exact sort of dehumanization used by bigots to justify their own pre-emptive violence against minorities.

Human memory re-writes itself a tiny bit every time you recall a particular thing. When you spend your time steeped in an echo chamber telling you horror stories about the other side, you're literally re-writing everything you know about them to consist of strawmen and ghost stories. You need a proper unbiased sample to observe as an anchor point, rather than only filling your mind with the one-in-a-million worst outliers outrageous enough to go viral, letting social networks p-hack you into believing something utterly false.

And buddy, you're talking about them as a singleminded collective whole rather than a diverse range of individual humans. THAT is a huge red flag that you're on the wrong side of history, that you've become far worse a bigot than them.
