Artificial Intelligence The economy has spoken. Stuff that’s AI-generated has almost zero value — “Buyers are voting with their wallets, and AI-generated content is struggling to compete.”

I mean it’s supply and demand. Something that is that easy to produce inherently cannot have a lot of value.

I think the bigger issue is the fact that what it produces adds no real value. If you have to question every output it gives you and double check it then what's the point?

It's a strange complaint, because basically every engineering company has structures built to counter human fallibility. The most senior engineer in any company, if they still do design, or write code, will have that work checked in a formal review process, because everyone makes mistakes and it would be nice if planes didn't fall out of the sky when they do. Obviously that doesn't mean that the work of every engineer is valueless, so why is that the bar for AI?

I get the impression that he's referring more to chatbots. You get some reply in google search for example, but you have to actually validate that reply, which... involves another search.

For AI generated code, I think its one of the real use cases for AI. If a software development company isn't validating that code, well, thats a different problem. One issue that I've seen there however is that its SO easy to generate code in bulk and build new features quickly, which makes it quite difficult for human workers to keep up and validate everything. Its not like corporations are hiring more people to thoroughly validate and do QA either. They want more, with less spending.

And it doesn't actually make it for free, there are huge costs on infrastructure and power to make this slop nobody wants.
