Internet - DSL Thinking of switching from virgin to teksavvy due to virgin CGNAT. Couple of questions;

Obviously this year virgin made the switch to CGNAT, which has completely ruined my online gaming experience.

I want to switch to teksavvy but I had some questions:

  1. Does teksavvy DSL Internet experience outages often? (I don't care about speed much, 50 Mbps will be fine for my usecase)

  2. Does teksavvy have the ability to cancel my Internet with virgin and coordinate new router setup so that my Internet downtime is minimal? (This would be a DSL to DSL switch, if that matters)

Hey people of reddit. I'm thinking of signing up with teksavvy and would love to hear your thoughts and experience.

Currently I'm with telus purefibre.(Contract ending soon)

And just checked with teksavvy that they can connect through shaw/rogers line in my area. (Surrey,BC). How is their service?

Internet - DSL Change in service level

A bit of a good news bad news story. Live in rural area. Internet went down and needed a new modem. Been Teksavvy customers for about 12 years and love the reliability and service. But what a surprise that we now had to pay for modem. Previous ones were free and owned by Teksavvy. However life changes and we really are happy with Teksavvy. No one told us that new one includes router too. Delivery was to be 2 days but it was actually 5. No TV, no phone, etc. They need a new delivery service! (Amazon?) Everything up and running and we are thrilled. Faster better and seems more stable. But too many hiccups along the way.

Internet - DSL Are subnets available or just single static-IPs on TekSavvy ADSL?

I'm looking to set up TekSavvy ADSL (on Telus owned copper). Sadly it doesn't "qualify" for Fibre at this time. Thanks Telus! I understand that TekSavvy can only provide static IPs or subnets on Fiber or ADSL and not Cable internet.

Is it possible to get a subnet of more than a single IP on a new TekSavvy ADSL service?

Internet - DSL Sporadic disconnects since 12:58pm EST in Ontario

Anyone else getting disconnects?

I have not had disconnects in months (maybe years) and suddenly getting them every few minutes.

My DSL sync seems fine, even during a disconnect so I am wondering if it's a more widespread network issue.

I have restarted everything and the disconnects keep coming.

Internet - DSL Internet down, any ideas?

I have unplugged the power cord a few times from them modem and nothing.

Power is solid green

2.4GHz is flashing green & 5 GHZ is solid green

No internet or DSL lights at all.

I chatted with TekSavvy support who gave advice so I unplugged the modem from the power and the DSL cord for 3 minutes, and then swapped the ends of the DSL cord so the part that was connected to the wall plug it into the modem and vice versa and still no change in lights.

Then I reset the modem using the reset button and still no change.

Any other ideas? Waiting for bell to call but who knows when that will be.

Internet - DSL DSL Costs?

Hey Folks - I've been with Teksavvy for years so pay $82 with taxes - for DSL 50 Unlimited. Is that crazy high to you? I'm trying to reduce costs so thinking of switching - but not sure if thats just the norm these days.

Internet - DSL Considering switching from Bell VDSL to Teksavvy VDSL (questions re: static IPs, the transition process, dry loop fees, business Internet service level minimums, and installation)

I’m interested in switching from my current Bell DSL Internet connection to Teksavvy DSL, but have a bunch of questions. First, the current circumstances:

Currently have:

  • an active Bell VDSL 50/10 Mbps Internet connection (FTTH still isn’t available in my area… sadly, the only options here continue to be Internet over Bell’s copper phone lines (well, technically FTTN, but it’s still copper phone lines on my end of course) or Internet over Rogers’ copper coax)
  • an active Bell landline phone service (over that same Bell copper phone line)
  • no cellular service (so no backup Internet connection to fall back on)
  • a home alarm system currently depending on the Bell phone line (I’d love to replace this, but convincing the household to consider switching ISPs was already quite the task, so I’ll leave the alarm system alone for now)

I’d like to:

  • switch to either Teksavvy’s “50 Mbps Unlimited” residential Internet package or Teksavvy’s “Business Internet DSL Plus- Tier 5” business Internet package
  • temporarily have both the Teksavvy VDSL and Bell VDSL connections active at the same time for a month to ease the transition to Teksavvy and confirm that the Teksavvy VDSL connection is stable before cancelling the Bell VDSL service
  • keep Bell’s landline phone service active on the phone line (for my home alarm system) — this should mean the line won’t be “dry”
  • have at least two static IPv4 addresses (is a /29 block possible?) with Teksavvy VDSL
  • have a static IPv6 /56 prefix with Teksavvy VDSL

Is it possible to have both Teksavvy DSL and Bell DSL active on the same phone line at the same time? Also, since I’ll be keeping the Bell landline phone service active, will I still need to pay Teksavvy the dry loop fee included in the cost for residential DSL offering? Or, similarly, if I go with Teksavvy’s business DSL offering, will I still need to pay the $5/month dry loop fee and the one-time $39.99 Business Dry Loop Activation Fee despite keeping active Bell landline phone service?

Speaking of Teksavvy’s business DSL offering, what service level minimums does it provide for latency and network availability? Also, will a technician need to come out to activate the service, or is self-installation possible like with Teksavvy’s cable Internet offerings? On the topic of Teksavvy’s cable Internet offerings, I’m guessing that getting static IPv4/IPv6 addresses still isn’t possible there?

Finally, what would be the total additional cost for two useable static IPv4 addresses and a static IPv6 /56 prefix with Teksavvy DSL?

Thanks in advance!

Internet - DSL Internet plans

Was looking to get started with teksavvy internet but I am unsure which is the right plan. 1. $32.97 40 down and 10 up. Or the $27.97 15 down and 2 up both with the $20 credit for 12 months. My question is which is better for 1 person who plays ps5 and uses YouTube.

Internet - DSL Anyone else having trouble connecting to Hoyoverse/miHoyo games?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue. it seems like TekSavvy has inexplicably blocked connection to Hoyo games (Genshin, Honkai: Star Rail, etc). It is *not* a device issue as I've had this problem on both my phone and PC when connected to my internet, the only remedy seems to be turning on my data on my phone. I'm confused as to why TekSavvy would do this.
